About this listen

A helicopter crash alters a Coast Guard rescue swimmer's life forever in Cutting Edge, a suspense thriller audiobook from USA Today best-selling author Ward Larsen

Trey DeBolt is a young man at the crest of life. His role as a Coast Guard rescue swimmer in Alaska offers him a rewarding job and limitless adventure. Then a tragic accident alters his life: during a harrowing rescue, his helicopter goes down.

Severely injured, DeBolt awakens in a seaside cabin in Maine, thousands of miles from where the accident occurred. His lone nurse lets slip that he has been officially declared dead, lost in the crash. Back in Alaska, however, Coast Guard investigator Shannon Lund uncovers evidence that DeBolt might still be alive. Her search quickly becomes personal, but before she can intervene, chaos erupts outside a cabin in the wilds of Maine.

The nurse who has been treating DeBolt is brutally killed by military-trained assassins. DeBolt is only saved when a bizarre vision guides him to safety. Soon other images appear, impossible revelations that are unfailing in their accuracy. As he runs for his life, DeBolt discovers he has been drawn into an ultra-secret government project. The power it bestows is boundless, both a gift and a curse. Yet one thing is certain: Trey DeBolt has abilities no human has ever known.

Not your run of the mill plot.

Excellent story line. Good character development. Good pace. Very enjoyable read. It pays to be different. I’m hoping for more from this author.
Also, easy to understand narration.

Loved it!!!

The concept was brilliant. A very creative and intelligent story. Not a huge fan of the narrator but but enjoyed him for the most part. Absolutely worth it.

Interesting premise, poor narration

The grave issues involved here were greatly diminished by the high-pitched, nasal voice of the narrator.

Big techno wonder is a smart phone

This book is written well and characters are well developed but the story is all about a technological phenomenon that is going to change the world but it’s NOTHING. A guy gets the tech surgically put in his head. Basically a smartphone. That’s the story. A lot about nothing. A good cellphone with access to the magic network would have been the same. If you imagine there really IS SOMETHING , the book is more enjoyable.

Good Book

The new idea is what made this book so good. I don't know if that would mean I would read a series based on it but this one was good.

Science fiction but borderline believable!

The hero in our story is captured and undergoes some unauthorized radical cranium surgery and gains some incredible data base retrieval capabilities. The persons responsible for the mind altering capabilities expected to use this hero to their own ends. But he escapes, and ironically turns the tables on them. He uses his newfound nifty gifts to outsmart the very folks who provided him with these magical means.

Enjoyable

The book is well written. It is probably a little above average. I give 3 stars for average 4 for very good and 5 rarely for awesome.
