Publisher's summary

A high-octane thriller from the author of The Perfect Assassin.

David Slaton has a good life. He has a new wife and a house in the Virginia suburbs. But he also has a dark past. Slaton is a former kidon, the most lethal Israeli assassin ever created.

After decades of work, a brilliant scientist has taken Iran to the threshold of its dream - a nuclear-tipped ballistic missile. Mossad must eliminate the man, but with a spy lurking high in its ranks there is only one option: bring back Slaton. The kidon has vowed to never kill again, but when his wife is attacked and forced to flee across Europe, events force his hand.

Slaton plots to assassinate one of the most closely guarded men on Earth. Success is improbable. Survival unlikely. Only when he learns the labyrinthine truth does Slaton see one high-stakes chance. A chance for an assassin’s game….

Happy to have found the David Slaton Series

I am very happy to have found the David Slaton series of books. I have read many of the best thriller book authors like Mark Greaney, Tom Wood, Barry Eisler. Greg Hurwitz, Ben Coes, Alex Berenson, Vince Flynn, and Tom Clancy. Unfortunately there are also a lot of bad authors in this genre so I have also wasted my time and money on some of the bad ones. So in this time of Coronavirus I am happy to have discovered Ward Larsen as a great author of thrillers, I have read a couple of these books and have a few more to go. As this is an Audible book, I thought the narration by Luke Daniels was also very well done.

A Game of Life & Death

An excellent story, superbly written & delivered. Clever misdirection & hidden agendas are the name of the game. Completely absorbing & totally entertaining.

Took a little bit

Took a little bit for the story to get going but enjoyed it once it did. Only thing that was annoying was that it seemed everyone's name started with an "S". Hard to keep up with them all.

Suspense and an unexpected ending.

This was a very well done story that kept me guessing and did not want to stop listening. Spent longer sessions listening to see what happens next. was rewarded with the unexpected ending I never saw coming. Highly recommend this book.

Fun if characters a bit shallow

Entertaining in the best adventure tradition that doesn't give much weight to character development. Clever strategies and misdirections, lots of stereotyping.

Assassin needs to grow some balls!

For Crying OUT LOUD!!! I love this character and love the action as well as the unexpected twist and turns in this novel. I like it David Slaton's success. As I pull into my office in the morning, after listening...I find myself saying to myself "I love this shit". But then comes the stupid insipid woman...who marries an assassin (spoiler alert) and doesn't want him to kill???? She puts him into an untenable situation where he is between a rock and hard place and she makes it worse. It is disappointing to see the new genre of assassins, not only in this novel, who kowtow to the women in theirs lives. Please tell me it isn't so. David can do better in the love department.

Very enjoyable story

What did you love best about Assassin's Game?

The characters were written very vividly, and the story was just the right balance of intriguing without being overwrought.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I could, I would have.

Any additional comments?

The narrator had a great range and did an excellent job of making each character very distinguishable from others.
