Publisher's summary

Everything they never wanted...is everything they’ll ever need.

Faye Holmes’s life is the polar opposite from her racy, best-selling romances. It’s quiet, routine, and, at the moment, plagued with writer’s block. If only just a little of the passion burning up the pages of her books would warm her lonely bed. But to be honest, one-night stands aren’t her thing.

When her best friend buys her a lap dance to celebrate her latest best seller, Faye is more than shocked. She’s intrigued by the stunningly beautiful dancer whose gentle eyes seem vaguely familiar.

Talia isn’t surprised that her favorite coffee shop customer doesn’t recognise her. Few would connect Talia, mild-mannered barista, with Adria, pole dancer and star of Liverpool’s hottest new strip club. And that’s how Talia wants it. It’s safer this way.

In the glaring spotlight though, no truth can hide for long. For two women from different worlds, falling in love can be a delicious dance - and a dangerous game. Not only for their careers, but for their hearts.

Another Favorite!

That was a slightly different stripper / dancer story. The ones I've read so far have always been women who had to dance and did it for fateful reasons. They always need the money that can be made quickly with it.
Thalia is so different and that's what I really liked about her.
She has such a healthy relationship to her body and knows how to use it.
She loves dancing on the pole and has built a remarkable career with what she loves.
The problem is the people around her and how they deal with it.
She meets Faye Holmes, a famous author and is fascinated from the first sight.
But the experiences from her past and the fear of getting hurt again do not allow her to trust anyone with her heart.
However, these two have an enormous chemistry right from the start. It's hard to keep their hands off each other. The scenes in the club or especially the scene in the alley ... hot hot hot!
The romangst is again masterfully written and the characters are my favorites again ... I wonder how many favorites fit into such a small heart 😁
Another hit from Melissa Tereze!
Emma Griffiths is one of my absolute favorite Narrators! She has such a soft and sensual voice. It’s perfect for hot and sensual romance!

Inability to communicate ❤️‍🩹

First of all, I have enjoyed reading and listening to Melissa Tereze’s novels for quite some time.
While I thoroughly enjoyed this work, there is an element of frustration that runs through almost the entire story, that involves the main character’s inability, due their life experiences or self concept, to believe that they are worth loving.
Also, their ability to communicate what they ultimately want from each other is as great a problem.
They are two very intelligent and creative people who dread love simply because they believe it is either unattainable or unsustainable.
And so, they spend so much time trying to prove to each other that they are not worth seriously investing in simply because they desperately fear the eventual breakup!
Alas, as with all good romances, they come to grips with what they were doing to each other and also denying themselves.
The story is well written and while the British accents prove a bit challenging, I think that a listener from Great Britain might find it a bit easier.
The novel winds up beautifully with all the loose ends tied together in a lovely, sexy bow.
Enjoy.

Great performance of a terrific story

I absolutely love Talia and Faye’s story. Unlike many other stories that have tons of angst, these two actually so communicate better than most. While there are still trusts to develop, some of the big things that typically get omitted from the communications in relationships in many romances doesn’t happen here which was refreshing for me. I didn’t get frustrated with the characters for not simply talking to each other. Talia is strong in her sense of self and what she does while placing thick walls around her heart to keep herself from getting hurt because of that. Faye is reserved and unsure of herself but a fierce defender of those she cares about. Just a note, you’ll want to trounce Faye’s best friend and she more than deserves it. I enjoyed Emma Griffith’s performance throughout. She did a great job representing the angst and emotion of the characters. I do like a bit more differentiation between character voices but overall a solid performance.

Unwavering love and support

Faye and Talia are both so loving and caring that it made me so happy that they got together. Faye was crushing on Talia long before she sees her at the club and nothing will made her doubt those feelings. Talia has only known unhappiness when people find out about her career. She finds it hard to believe Faye will be different. Though their growing friendship and communication they learn to trust in one another and start dating. They fight for their love and relationship. It is a beautiful story with a lot of love and heat. Emma Griffiths was wonderful narrating this book and I hope to hear her again.
