Publisher's summary

Jordan Callahan is determined to eradicate all who pose a threat to Group Nine, the government faction he serves. His next mission takes him to the state of Washington, where he has been assigned to kill the elusive Joe Smith, one of the greatest menaces to Group Nine.

A year ago, an explosion killed Ava Callahan's husband and his Marine unit - or so she thought. When Joe Smith appears at her doorstep with proof that Jordan and most members of his unit survived, she's left wondering why he never returned home. When Joe explains the reason, she readily agrees to accompany him to Washington. With the help of the rest of Jordan's unit - Brody, Lucas, Garrett, Zachary, and Ruben - Ava hopes to reclaim the life she and Jordan once shared and rekindle the love she thought she'd lost forever.

A series of shocking events lead to Jordan being apprehended, but he has no recollection of his past, including his life with Ava. By using less than conventional means of recovering his memories, they discover the truth behind what really happened to Jordan, as well as the suppressed supernatural ability he was left with after the explosion.

Great read but horrible listen..

Wow! These guys just keep getting more and more amazing. All with different abilities, from being able to control the ocean to being able to turn into a bear, AND Jordan’s new ability was nothing short of fantastic. But, man-o-man, the crap he went through with Group Nine? No wonder he was so ticked off when he got his memories back.

This was such a great book, with Joe Smith leading the troop, but never knowing who or what he is. Does he really need that wheelchair? Does he have any abilities? Same questions, different book.

I do love all the characters in these books: Brody, Lucas, Garrett, Ruben and Zach.

From time to time I really had a hard time liking Ava, especially when Jordan was in the basement screaming for her. I thought she was a real jerk then. Mostly I liked her but not all the time.

There was sex in this book but it came in a dream of Jordan’s, but it was explicit.

The F-bomb was used 16 times.

As to the narration: Michael Pauley really did stink! The only decent voice was Ava’s. All the men sounded like idiots, think of Ernest Goes to Camp / Ernest Scared Stupid / Ernest Goes to Jail and you'll get it, and Lucas had a really high pitched voice. He did read with some emotions but his male voices were so bad it didn’t make up for it. I would not want to listen to this narrator again, until he can do a better male voice.
