About this listen

A new stand-alone contemporary romance that's faster, steamier, grittier...but with the emotional impact you've come to expect from New York Times best-selling author Mia Sheridan.

Wealthy socialite Olivia Barton never imagined her fiancé would disappear on what was supposed to be a routine business trip. She's even more heartbroken and confused when a hired private investigator tracks him half a world away, to a seaside town in Colombia. But the country has recently been ravaged by a massive earthquake and deadly tsunami, shutting down outside communication and making travel all but impossible. Still, Olivia is determined to make it to Colombia to find the answers she so desperately seeks. What she needs is a guide - a mercenary.

The man named Thomas arrives in shadows, an unmistakable air of danger about him, promising to help lead her through the ruined, crime-infested country. But when Thomas and Olivia find themselves fighting an undeniable attraction, danger takes on a whole new meaning. Then again, in the lush jungles of South America, all the rules are different, and Thomas and Olivia are about to discover that sometimes the thing you seek isn't necessarily the thing you find.

Crashing wave from a Luke warm ocean!

I really liked the first 25% of the book but then it started to fizzle a bit for me. The H is standoffish and the h is interested but keeps reminding herself of her sort of fiance who has been missing for a long time.

Cheating on the h side? Perspectives differ but since her 'fiance' had lied about his whereabouts, then disappeared without a trace for months, my take on it is no cheating.

Cheating on the H side... Yes/No/Wake up moment.

TSTL moment? Only one major and I am still scratching my head.

The ending? Ends faster than a Hallmark Movie!

OMG!

I don’t usually write reviews. I don’t want to give away the story but I just want to say that this book HAS IT ALL. I love it for so many reasons! I didn’t expect this great of a story in such a short piece. You MUST LISTEN!

Loved It

Mia Sheridan is one of my go-to authors when I'm in a slump because her stories never fail to get me out of it. This had the added bonus of being narrated by two awesome narrators. Stephen Dexter is wonderful and Callie Dalton it's so extremely talented. There is so much emotion in her narrations.

What an adventure!

I have always enjoyed Mia's books! My favorite being Leo. I couldn't resist and used my credit on Seek. I have listened to all of her books and enjoy her Sign of Love (Zodiac) series. It's a shorter listen for me, but I LOVED it! Leo is still my favorite, but I rank Seek in my top 4 of Mia's books. I was not disappointed with this suspenseful, Columbia adventure trip. A stranger from the past (from one of her other books) makes an appearance. The steam occurs towards 3/4 of the book. Yes, worth my credit!

Quick suspenseful read!

I am slowly getting back into romantic suspense novels, and Seek was my second romantic suspense novel in about 3 weeks. It’s a sub-genre of romance that I used to be highly addicted to about a decade ago before I got burned out.

Story rating: ★★★★☆

I enjoyed it although in hindsight I wish I had read the e-book first and only listened to the audiobook when I wanted to reread it. The female narrator Callie Dalton was very consistent, had good instincts for tone and emotion overall, and did a decent male voice. The male narrator Stephen Dexter on the other hand struggled with consistency, emoting appropriately and doing the female voices. Another narrator like Jacob Morgan or Zachary Webber would have done this story better justice. I also think this story would have been better enhanced by a duet narration style.

What I liked about this romantic suspense novel…
Sexy / Easy-to-read / Entertaining / Action-packed / Page-turner / Quick read / HEA

Favorite scenes: The book’s opening scene and the epilogue scene.

I loved Brody’s nostalgic recount of how Lobo became his fury companion for a brief time before Brody’s brute of an uncle signed Lobo’s death warrant. And then the epilogue with Brody greeting their newborn made me smile with happiness for their new family unit. Life had dealt them both a tough hand, and it felt time for the universe to do them a solid by blessing them with not only love but a baby to nurture and add to their circle of love.

And I loved the tie-in to Stinger, a character from one of Mia’s previous novels!

Missing Fiancee vs New Man

I wasn't expecting the twist at the end. It definitely threw me for a loop. I really felt for Olivia. Growing up without feeling loved by her family, she was desperate for a connection. She was a very likable heroine, but she was also trusting and naive. She often ignored very obvious red flags but again, she had inner strength and resolve. So I knew she would be okay in the end.

The story kept my attention because Olivia and Thomas were both working to overcome their past. There was a clear growth in their characters as the story progressed. The pacing was good and it was pretty suspenseful. I was able to finish the story in one sitting.

Mia Sheridan always delivers a good romance mixed with characters that are overcoming painful pasts. So at the end of the journey, there is a feeling of redemption and restoration. I almost always feel satiated at the end of her stories.

Short but sweet!

I liked the strange twist this book brought. I never seen the events coming and of course loved the ending.
