About this listen

Jillian Milzner has lived a life on the run. Her biological sperm donor has made it clear he wishes she'd never been born. Most kids get presents from their dads growing up. He sent thugs to make death threats to ensure she never tries to find him. He needn't have bothered, since she wants nothing to do with Decon Filmore. His father, however, thinks Jill might be useful. Things go from bad to worse when her grandfather's goons snatch her up to deliver her to a man both terrifying...and straight out of her sexiest daydreams.

Lord Aveoth isn't surprised to hear from Decker Filmore. The man is desperate to make the GarLycan lord call off the hunt for his life, and equally determined to reclaim his VampLycan clan. To achieve both goals, he'll offer Aveoth yet another half-human granddaughter from his bloodline.

It's lonely being a lord of a clan, so Aveoth agrees to the meeting - and he's instantly attracted to Jill. He's also angry to learn she's been brought to him against her will, but he still wants to keep her. Even if it exposes his darkest secret...which could tear his clan apart.

I Want Adventures in the Bat Cave!!

Mmmmmm.......Aveoth. I found him intriguing from the moment he arrived on the scene. He's dark, mysterious, gorgeous, dangerous and has a soft side he must hide from his own people. His compassion in the previous books had me hoping he would find his mate. Jill is SO that woman. She is one of the coolest heroines ever. She doesn't really have one bad quality or annoying baggage item that needs to be cleared up before she can move on or any of the usual heroine stuff that creates angst (not that there's anything wrong with that when done in moderation). She's just made for him. So far, this is my favorite in the series, but we'll see what Creed brings to the table before I settle on that.

(If you are on the fence about this series: I held Drantos in my wish list for about six months because of reviews that were less than stellar. As someone who has written a few reviews when having a bad day, I know that occasional unfair reviewing happens.....I owe a few apologies. I am SO GLAD I decided to ignore the early "meh" reviews and started this series. I think the popularity of the New Species series may have unfairly hurt this one a bit in the beginning, but if you loved New Species, I really think you will love this one too. While the worlds are different, they are equally awesome, in that the men are loyal, protective and off-the-charts hot. THIS book and the next one -which I'm starting as soon as I hit enter on this review- were highly-anticipated pre-orders if that clues you in to the awesomeness of this series.)

Savannah Richards is wonderful, as usual. That fence I was on for 6 months? She was the wind that finally tipped me over it. Her performance is always awesome, and you are always guaranteed a great listen whenever her name follows "Narrated by: "

Much Better

I liked this story much better than the first two books in the series. I was intrigued with Aveoth after he appeared in the first book. Jill is still pretty obnoxious as the other females in previous books, but was able to overlook some of her abrasive flaws when humor was added that made me laugh. I did not listen to Kraven because of the tone of female in the first book. Will try to listen to Lorn; hope it measures up.

Aveoth! Finally his story

The GarLycans add to the already great series. This book allows you to learn that even though they are different breeds the vlgs have some of the same problems. Action and romance galore. Hints of secrets that hopefully will be revealed later in the series. His mom has a relative that takes care of her? Have a feeling there is more to this. What is Aveoth more of... vamp or lycan? I want to hear more about this race now. Dive in. You will enjoy.

Such a sassy character

I absolutely LOVED the sassy and sarcastic heroine! I'm not fond of the damsel in distress who can't really hold their own, so I was extremely happy that this wasn't the case. She was brave and really didn't care about if her mouth got her into more trouble. This is by far my favorite out of the series.

the best of all vlg books

this was by far the best of the vgl books. it was refreshing to learn about the gargoyles although I would like to learn more. it also hinted on other species which is very cool. Aveoth is my favorite. I love how tender hearted he is and the spin with his real dad was awesome!!!!

New book for me and a good one.

My first time reading (actually listening) to a Lauren Dohner book. I sure liked the gargoyle/lycan/vampire mix of characters and really enjoyed Jillian's sarcasm and bulldog determination not to back down especially in the face of bullies. She has quite a mouth on her and boy did I laugh. Aveoth was just right for her. I am not sure if I have listened to narrator Savannah Richards before. She did a fine job with a lot of different characters to manage.

Enjoyable

Fast-paced and engaging. Nice love story and, the antagonist was frightening enough to be believable.

my favorite so far

I am glad Aveoth got his mate. I wish he had dealt a bit harsher with the Gargoyle council but the series isn't over yet.

Love, Love, Love Aveoth!

Love, love, love this book! Aveoth is awesome! Jill is so funny. Some of the things she said and did was hilarious. Aveoth's mother was great. To me, this is the best book of the VLG series. As always, Savannah Richards did an excellent job.
