About this listen

In Bad Faith, two gripping story lines that could have been torn out of today’s headlines meet at the intersection of religion and medical ethics. In the first, Butch battles to convict the parents of a deceased boy for failing to seek medical attention for their son, who believed, wrongly, that prayer was the answer for healing his rare but treatable brain disease. At the same time, Marlene investigates the charismatic demagogue Reverend McCord, who has an undeniable grasp on the parents.

Meanwhile, a beautiful but deadly Russian incarcerated assassin, Nadya Malovo, works with Karp from behind bars to prevent a violent attack on New York City. But she harbors a secret vendetta against Karp for interfering in her past crimes, and can’t be trusted....

This action-packed, edge-of-your-seat thriller will leave fans listening late into the night.

Robert K. Tanenbaum is one of my favorite authors. He delivers a good story in Bad Faith. However, his longer books (Malice, Betrayed, Escape) are truly memorable. If you have followed the series, this continues the story line in an entertaining way. If you are considering your first Tanenbaum listen, choose Malice instead. This was my first listen to a Peter Berkrot performance, it was solid, but not quite what I expected. For these novels, I prefer Mel Foster or Charles Legget as the narrator. Overall, a good listen, but not a great one.

A Good Listen, but not a Great One

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Only if you have been reading the series from the start. Not much new in the live of the Karps. It was really a continuation of the last book in the series.

Would you ever listen to anything by Robert K. Tanenbaum again?

Would probably read the next book in the series but need some new material to make it interesting.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Performance was fine.

Did Bad Faith inspire you to do anything?

No

Not much new

I enjoy Butch Karp books, but I had a hard time making it thru this one. Mr. Berkrot's voice is not easy to take. He also over acts the parts to make it worse. I will not but any more of his .

Gravel Voice Unpleasent

What disappointed you about Bad Faith?

Obvious author change. Plot replaced by narrative blobs. Out of character actions and statements.

Has Bad Faith turned you off from other books in this genre?

It has turned me off from subsequent Tanenbaum books. I understand that this is the first in the series with a different ghostwriter.

Just awful
