Bad People is a hilarious and poignant window into the mind of a grief-stricken young woman. Using dry humor, unabashed nerdism, and cartoon dinosaurs, award-winning playwright Kati Schwartz tells her Me Too story, giving an intimate glimpse into vulnerability and complicity, and then into the harrowing processes of healing and self-acceptance.

A window into grief.

An unapologetically nerdy telling of a story often not heard, but unfortunately felt, by many.

Poetic, heartbreaking and uplifting

Bad People is a grippingly powerful and immersively entertaining Audio Play from award-winning playwright Kati Schwartz. This is a deeply personal story that has brought tears to my eyes many times during its one-hour playtime.

The writing is smart, beautiful, poetic and at times I couldn’t help not to care for our unnamed protagonist. A story of love, a story of loss, a story of psychological torment, and most of all, a story about someone who just wanted to be accepted and embraced by their circle of friends.

It is also a story that made headlines many times in the past years, in one form or another. The#metoo movement gathered notoriety and international attention on social media, so we all know what this is all about. I definitely think everyone who had to live through such experiences should speak out. Probably the most important message that we all need to get through our thick heads after listening to this immersive narrative is that nobody should protect powerful people and dismiss the reality of those suffering as a result of physical, sexual, or psychological abuse on behalf of these sorry excuses for human beans.

As I said above I cried, but I also laughed out loud while listening to Bad People! The performances delivered by the actors are emotional and natural, the sound effects help create a higher level of immersion and all in all I had a really good time listening to this audio production. Amanda Nicholas does a fabulous job in bringing to life the main character and her breathless performance is worthy of many awards and appreciation.

I absolutely loved the play, the many references to pop fiction, video games, movies, music, and other stuff. I highly recommend Bad People to everyone who usually blame themselves for everything bad happening in their lives.

We are fragile, we need friends, family, a partner that treasures us, respects us, and sees us for what we are. I want to thank Kati Schwartz for sharing with us this poignant story, I’m sure it wasn’t easy to write and definitely not easy to put out here where everyone can read or listen to it.

A story that needs to be heard.

Sadly relevant to our times but told with a propitious tone. Deeply personal story with themes accessible to anyone.
