Publisher's summary

As a firefighter, Captain Ken Cavanaugh knows his way around dangerous situations - but he'd rather run into a burning building than help plan his 25th high school reunion in Barefoot Bay. Unfortunately, it's his best chance of finally putting things right with Beth Endicott two and a half decades after they ended so badly. But the instant they see each other again, the years blow away like ashes in the heat of their combustible chemistry. For one single night, they let their incendiary passion consume them...but in the morning, they're still left with the smoldering wreckage of a relationship that ended in tragedy.

Raised under the thumb of a rich and controlling man, Beth has spent her adult years craving freedom. Now that she's finally managed to carve out an independent life, is she ready to risk her heart on the first man she ever loved - a man who blames her family for his father's death? With so much painful history between them, Beth can't see a way to have a future with Ken. But one stunning surprise will turn everything they ever believed upside down, and send them straight into each other's arms.

Great Book!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book; this is the second book in the Barefoot Bay Timeless series written by Roxanne St. Claire and narrated by B.J. Harrison.

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises.

The narrator B.J. Harrison did a wonderful job with this book. He did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

Another trip to Barefoot Bay!

If you could sum up Barefoot at Moonrise in three words, what would they be?

Intense, heart-wrenching, awesome

What did you like best about this story?

The story was so intense for me. I laughed, cried, and wanted to scream at the unfairness of life for Gabe and Isadora. The plot was so amazing, there were so many twists, and I just couldn't put it down. Anytime a book makes me laugh and cry I feel like it is a hit for me.

What does B.J. Harrison bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listening to it being read to me is like watching the movie in my head. It seems to come to life a bit more than if I'm just reading it myself.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were so many but at the end when Gabe's grandfather was having a conversation with Gabe about how things had turned out for him and Isadora. He told him that they should never make their son the center of their world. He was telling him that his relationship with his son's mother should be his first priority. I have always agreed with that within the family and Nino just said it so beautifully!

Excellent Second Book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend the series. I like it when an author chooses to write about a set of adults who are not young and fresh out of high school or college. There are so many books out there about them. There are also too many about older men and younger women. But when two adults who have many life experiences under their belts find true love it is a refreshing change.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked all of them. I can't pick any one that stood out.

Which scene was your favorite?

I did not have a favorite although I liked the scenes when the hero was chastising himself for not doing what he should have done in high school and taking so long to realize what he should have done.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No really. the book flowed along nicely and even though it was a continuation of book 1 it was a stand alone all on it's own. You could listen to this book without having to listen to the first one because there was enough detail to help you understand what was going on without it being overwhelming.

Barefoot at moonrise

This was a good romance of the modern world. It is about a family that kept secrets about the past.

meh

What did you like best about Barefoot at Moonrise? What did you like least?

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. I've read and enjoyed books by Ms. St. Claire previously. As I write these words, however, I am less than an hour into the story, and I do not think I can go on. Romance writers are taught that capturing the reader's attention and interest early on are key, but I could not care less about the characters in Barefoot at Moonrise. As the story opens, these "older" characters are at a high school reunion. Beth, our heroine, is an ANCIENT (!) 40, and our "silver-haired" hero, Ken is 42 or 43.. Beth is adamant that she will have nothing to do with the man who loved her and then broke her heart in high school, yet just a few pages later (literally just a few minutes on the audio recording), they are engaged in a graphic sexual encounter in a fairly public location. Yawn. Having read the book description, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that she gets pregnant even though she is sure that she can't. And after a few more displays of sexual calisthenics, they'll work out all their past resentments and decided to live happily ever after. I'll come back and edit this review if I start feeling guilty, finish the book, and discover I've guessed incorrectly or have somehow or other come to care for the characters. First contact, however, left me totally un-enamored.

Timeless Romance.

What did you love best about Barefoot at Moonrise?

It's a foregone conclusion that youth and humanity lead to mistakes. There have been times that I've wished for a do - over. Ben and Beth have that chance, if they don't allow pride and hurt to interfere.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Barefoot at Moonrise?

Ben when he finally let go of the pain and resentment, freed up his heart to love and forgave the people and circumstances he could not change.

Which character – as performed by B.J. Harrison – was your favorite?

B.J. as Ben displayed the inner turmoil that dogged Ben's every step and kept him from opening up to the possibilities of finding happiness.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to and ultimately did finish Barefoot at Moonrise within one sitting. Listening to the story was more powerful than reading it for myself.

Any additional comments?

Emotionally compelling and heartfelt tale of pride and forgiveness. Every person, no matter the age, should experience Barefoot at Moonrise.

AROUSING MAN, REAL ROMANCE AND A GREAT TWIST

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

The thing I like about the "Barefoot Bay" series is the feeling that these are real people, and real men. Nothing is too far out there. The romance is hot. The story had a twist I didn't expect. And it was handled graciously. B.J. Harrison has the perfect smooth voice for these heroes. Mmmmmm. Yum.

Two Thumbs Up!

I kept finding excuses to drive so I could listen

Keep a tissue handy. This is for every woman who never had a choice about when her biological clock stopped ticking and that hope for a miracle that never quite dies. Not to mention sometimes the villains...aren't.

You don't listen to this book, you FEEL it. Every heart stopping, gut clinching step of the way. Every time I thought things couldn't possibly get worse for the lead characters, they did. Beware the cliche, because the author uses it to lead you down the path toward a totally different conclusion than what you expected. And she did it multiple times, darn her!

This was my commuter book and I kept finding excuses to prolong the drive, run an extra errand or do whatever it took to keep listening.

This is one I'm afraid to post much of anything about the plot in case it's a spoiler for someone. Because this one takes so many twists and holds so many surprises, I don't dare give anything away. Just get it.
