About this listen

Bathsheba is a woman who longs for love. With her devout husband away fighting the king's wars for many months at a time, discontent and loneliness dog her steps - and make it frighteningly easy to succumb to King David's charm and attention. Though she immediately regrets her involvement with the powerful king, the pieces are set in motion that will destroy everything she holds dear. Can she find forgiveness at the feet of the Almighty? Or has her sin separated her from God - and David - forever?

With a historian's sharp eye for detail and a novelist's creative spirit, Jill Eileen Smith brings to life the passionate and emotional story of David's most famous - and infamous - wife. Smith uses her gentle hand to draw out the humanity in her characters, allowing listeners to view themselves in the three-dimensional lives and minds of people who are often viewed in starkly moralistic terms. You will never listen to the story of David and Bathsheba in the same way again.

Review of Novel Bathsheba

Excellent Novel . Enjoyed how the author depicted with imagination , those in the Bible, and the characters added for effect of what their relationships could have been like with each other. For example Bathsheba and her handmaiden from childhood and her relationship with her father and how she may have been trained as a child for marriage .
Enjoyed the narration . Good job! Every voice fitting that particular person. Also her relationship with her husband. Each character just flowed with each other. Really pulled you into the story. You could imagine each person’s feelings. Thank you.

Tenderly and Carefully Written & Narrated

Written and narrated tenderly, carefully and with much apparent forethought. Excellent retelling of the Scriptural story!!

A Remarkable telling of a well known story

This story is very well written and researched and brings the story of David and Bathsheba to life in a historic and realistic setting. The emotions and struggles she put into this book gave depth and insight into how David and Bathsheba may have really been when they lived on this earth and made it very relatable and real.

Good story performance was meh.

I struggled to finish because the narrator was overdramatic in every sentence, like everything Tirzah daid was urgent of life-threatening. It got to be very annoying. Decent story though.

Searching

Batheba stole King David heart, yes the way he went about marrying her was wrong and no he should not have looked into the night when a woman is doing her monthly purification. To take a story from the bible and make it into a love story from her perspective kept me wanting more.
