About this listen

Be My Guest is the remarkable autobiography of legendary entrepreneur, statesman, and philanthropist Conrad Hilton.

Born on Christmas day in 1887 in the Territory of New Mexico, by 1929 Hilton owned hotels throughout Texas. Although the Depression erased nearly all of it, he never resorted to bankruptcy. Rising through turbulence and achieving prosperity, the “innkeeper to the world” brought the world closer together in glamorous destinations across the globe.

Conrad Hilton believed in himself, in his dreams and in America as the land of opportunity. In his own words, he reveals how mastering the art of living can also help listeners achieve their own personal success.

Quick read on a excellent story

A nice fast read that gives you a little detail on how Conrad Hilton built the Hilton Brand. It left me wanting more details but this was a good start at looking at the Hilton Brand. I was not pleased with the recording quality though and if it was longer that the 3 hours I probably would have stopped listen because of the quality of the recording.

What America is and should be.

Reading this reminds me of what America is meant to be: a land of liberty, opportunity, industry, ingenuity, and faith in God. It stands in stark contrast to the confused, purposeless, unpatriotic malaise of our current era where America is flanked on every side by Neo-Communist wolves.

Brief & To the point

Loved how short and concise the book is, The Tips offered are old-school but they do stand the test of time. Narration isn't of the highest quality though

Great masterpiece book

I could not imagine that the founder of Hilton corporation passed through all these difficulties and troubles! He provided his 3 key ingredient for success that is: 1- pray, 2- work, 3- Dream.

As to pray, Too many bad things happened to him and he were in many seemingly hopeless situations to be rescued without expectations at the right moment.

As to work, there can be no success whatsoever without this vital ingredient, and no one can be successful without working hard.

As to dream, many people pray and work, however, they are not successful because they do not dream. He suggested that you must dream and be persistent to achieve that dream.

At the end of the book, he provided 10 achievable qualities that must exist in a successful person that I believe must be written in gold.

A masterpiece work

Conrad Hilton, A Real American

How refreshing it was for me to listen to this book by Conrad Hilton! It took me back to the times when I read of and about America and her people, their values and the great American. Now, having moved to and lived in America for many decades, I miss those times, when America was represented by many great, honest people (millions and millions of them), who lived proudly with a spirit of self reliance, independence, honor and a can-do attitude. This book by Conrad Hilton just made me smile an long for the good old times...

Quick, Inspirational, Nuts abs Bolts

This is an inspiring tail of perseverance and the American experience. Conrad Hilton Hammers on his Values of Hard Work, Prayer, and Dreaming. What he doesn’t explicitly touch on is his Sense of focusing on what is important and ignoring details that aren’t. His writing style, however, perfectly embodies this practice by carving out only the most pivotal experiences and challenges of his life. Of his personal life and backstory he recounts little, mostly communication to the reader the experiences in business that he had from which he learned the most.
Conrad must have been a truly vigorous man.
