About this listen

Skelm Island, Maine, has always been known for two things: lobsters and its broken lighthouse.

But when corpses start showing up in the water, the isolated town becomes the face of a cryptic investigation.

At the heart of which stands Lincoln Porter, a grumpy ex-SEAL whose lobstering business seems to attract more dead bodies than fish.

When homicide expert Detective Sloane is called in to assist with the case, she begins digging up skeletons; ones that Lincoln would rather stay buried.

Forced to work together, Sloane’s suspicious attitude and optimistic demeanor grate on the lobsterman’s nerves, resulting in a rivalry that’s as addicting as it is volatile.

But as everything unravels and they have no one else to trust, Lincoln and Sloane must depend on each other to figure out what secrets should be brought to light...and which secrets should stay hidden.

Be Still My Heart is a full-length, complete stand-alone featuring mature themes and content that may not be suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised.

Twisty

DESCRIPTION:
Sloane: My whole life I thought I was Morgan Sloane. I wanted nothing more than to be a detective that is what led me back to Skelm Island to figure out what was going on and who was killing these women. The moment Lincoln saw me he knew he knew me, but couldn’t place it. He didn’t like me as much as I didn’t like him. However, I was here to do a job and he wouldn’t get in my way.

MY THOUGHTS:
This book had a good twist to it. I loved how Morgan and Lincoln started out and how they both didn’t see it coming, he just took and she loved it. Overall it was a cute story with a good ending. The twist in this book just kept coming. It was a little dark in the sense that there was child SA involved. I would check the trigger warnings in this book, but other than that it was a good book.

Loved the suspense and narration!

I am a huge fan of suspense and mystery in books, so I was pleasantly surprised throughout this book co-written by these 2 amazing authors. The storyline was very different from the other works that I have read from Sav R Miller and Emily McIntyre, but no less amazing. I loved all of the characters and the small town setting of the story and I was absolutely captivated by the performance of these narrators.

Intriguing story with excellent characters

I don’t know how I hadn’t heard about this book sooner because I love Emily’s work but I am so glad I finally found it- I just loved this story so much! There was a perfect mix of mystery and romance. The narrators did an excellent job of bringing the story to life and I cried when it was over.

Lincoln and Morgan

This was my first book by each author, so I was not sure what to expect. The story is about a coastal town that is having several unexplained deaths, and they are pointing to Lincoln as the suspect. Enter Detective Morgan Sloane, who is from the state, or government, and she turns out to be as interested in Lincoln as he is in her. He thinks she’s his childhood friend who had a mysterious disappearance and declared death. As she works the case with her partner Alex, with no help from the local PD, more bodies show up. The heat in this book, I’ll give it a 2.5. The story itself was good, honestly, it was hard to finish, but I did want to see what happened. I like the narrators, and I’m not sure if they have a choice in the matter, but I really don’t like when they have to voice the narration for the other people talking. Example - Lincoln is talking to his mother, so the male narrator speaks both parts.. not my favorite at all.
