About this listen

Keeping things professional with my employees has never been an issue. Until she waltzed onto my property.

Billie is talented. She's mouthy. And she's so damn tempting. I can't stop thinking about all the ways I could take her down a peg. I can't stop thinking about her, period.

We clash from the moment we meet. And in a small town, on an even smaller farm, it's hard to keep your distance. It's even harder to keep that friction from turning to fire.

But keeping my distance? That might be the biggest struggle of all. Because Billie is the whole package, whip-smart with a body I fantasize about when I'm alone, and quite possibly the only woman who can save this business—and me.

She drives me crazy. In every sense of the word. Every smart-mouthed little comment—every game we play—I end up wanting more. Wanting her closer. With me. Under me.

I try not to let her get to me, but the more time we spend together the more I crave her. Her lips. Her trust. Her heart. I want it all. But at what cost? Because suddenly I don't just want to win races, I want to win the girl.

Contains mature themes.

The FMC, Billie, was likable from the start. I respected her, especially when she stuck to her beliefs no matter how uncomfortable they made someone feel because it was the right thing to do. She was unapologetic about how she went about it, and that's refreshing. The MMC, Vaughn, almost missed his chance with her. He had character development and redeemed himself. I read the reviews and someone said Billie had more chemistry with her horse than Vaughn. I'm laughing at this truth.

I could live in Elsie Silver land forever. I love everything that Elsie writes. This book was exceptionally well narrated. By some of my favorite narrators. I laughed. I cried. I was totally biting my nails at certain points. This is a beautiful story that you just don’t want to miss

I liked how this book felt more unique than the majority of your typical romance novels, without sacrificing spice level

Something a little different

This is Elsie Silver’s debut and it hits like a veteran romance author. I read this series after reading Chestnut Springs and I agree with Ms. Silver, you don’t have to read these in order. Our story starts with Billie Black a young horse trainer showing up to Gold Rush Ranch. There she meets the MMC, Vaughn Harding. Vaughn is a billionaire (?) who decides that she is here at the behest of his mother and instantly dislikes Billie. He offers her a trial period to try to train a horse who has thus far been deemed untrainable. Unfortunately for Vaughn, Billie is more than up for the challenge. They consistently clash in the best ways and I am obsessed. This story feels like a warm hug and expertly previews the next couple!

This is a good read if you like: Small Town, Enemies to Lovers, Workplace Romance.

Narrator Alert! Mispronouncing words is so distracting. If a word ends in “ing”, it should be pronounced. Would you substitute “din” for ding? Don’t settle for lazy speech.

WOW Great Book

This book started out slow for me cause wasn’t familiar with the horse racing scene but I stuck with it and I ended up loving it. Billie was such a strong and funny character. Vaughn, I adored him for the way he fought for his relationship with Billie and his family. I enjoyed the story.

Good story.
