About this listen
Entrepreneurs and the most innovative businesses create "the next great thing" only when the economy faces the greatest challenges. From 2015 to 2020+ will be such a period! Harry Dent, best-selling author and trend forecaster, sees the coming decade as the most opportunistic of a lifetime, but only if you see it coming - which most won't. Entrepreneurs will do the best in this inevitable crisis ahead.
In this all-new program, Be Your Own Boss: How to Prosper in the Coming Entrepreneurial Decade, Harry wants to encourage you to start your own business in the best way suited for you. Harry Dent is an entrepreneur himself, and this program is all about motivating you to become more serious in your pursuit of entrepreneurship, as the next decade could be very threatening if you don't. The good news is that more than ever, new Internet and social media technologies make it easier to become an entrepreneur today.
The next five to seven years, and possibly longer, will be the worst years for the global economy in your lifetime - but there are unprecedented opportunities for entrepreneurs and for people who can generate cash and cash flow to prosper and survive and to buy financial assets during "the sale of a lifetime".
You will come out of this audio program with a better understanding of the fundamental trends that drive our economy - greater than the most highly educated economists. Yes, our economy is complex, but it is also very simple and very human. It is the simplest insights that allow us to see long-term trends well before they occur. You can understand such principles, and the insights will allow you to better guide your kids, invest for retirement, and manage your life and business at any level. The strategies outlined in this audio program will give you the greatest chance for success during this most difficult and opportune times, when the cream rises to the top and entrepreneurs reign.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your Library section along with the audio.

Story
We're now entering the winter season of the 80-year four season economic cycle. It's during this season that we'll clear the decks with a devastating crash and debilitating deflation. The economy and markets will shed the excesses created during the preceding fall bubble boom season and prepare the soil for new blossoming in innovation and a spring boom. After the blustering bull market of 2009-2015, we are now preparing for a shakeout more painful than anything we've seen before.

Cultural Intelligence teaches techniques that will allow you to function effectively in any culture. Instead of providing a laundry list of culturally specific dos and don'ts, Thomas and Inkson show how to pay attention in a mindful and creative way to cues in cross-cultural situations.

Every marketer tells a story. And if they do it right, we believe them. We believe that wine tastes better in a $20 glass than a $1 glass. We believe that an $80,000 Porsche Cayenne is vastly superior to a $36,000 VW Touareg, which is virtually the same car. We believe that $225 Pumas will make our feet feel better, and look cooler, than $20 no-names... and believing it makes it true.

Story
In Joel's Schwartzberg's 10-plus years as a strategic communications trainer, the biggest obstacle he's come across - one that connects directly to nervousness, stammering, rambling, and epic fail - is that most speakers and writers don't have a point. They typically have just a title, a theme, a topic, an idea, an assertion, a catchphrase, or even something much less. This book shows you how to identify your point, leverage it, stick to it, and sell it and how to train others to identify and successfully make their own points.

Today, there are three Americas. At one extreme are the brain hubs with workers who are among the most productive, creative, and best-paid on the planet. At the other extreme are former manufacturing capitals that are rapidly losing jobs and residents. The rest of America could go either way. For the past 30 years, the three Americas have been growing apart at an accelerating rate. This divergence is one the most important developments in the history of the US and is reshaping the very fabric of our society. But the winners and losers aren't necessarily who you'd expect.

Economics isn't just about numbers: It's about politics, psychology, history, and so much more. We are all economists - when we work, save for the future, invest, pay taxes, and buy our groceries. Yet many of us feel lost when the subject arises. Award-winning professor Timothy Taylor here tackles all the key questions and hot topics of both microeconomics and macroeconomics, so you can understand and discuss economics on a personal, national, and global level.

Story
There has always been some gap between rich and poor in this country, but in the last few decades what it means to be rich has changed dramatically. Alarmingly, the greatest income gap is not between the 1 percent and the 99 percent, but within the wealthiest 1 percent of our nation-as the merely wealthy are left behind by the rapidly expanding fortunes of the new global super-rich. Forget the 1 percent; Plutocrats proves that it is the wealthiest 0.1 percent who are outpacing the rest of us at break-neck speed.

Story
Far too many investors fail to get the results they want, because they make some pretty common mistakes. The problem is, the errors don't seem like mistakes—they seem like smart, intuitive, and/or widely recognized investing "wisdom". But much of what's accepted as investing "wisdom" is, instead, bunk.

Story
As venture capitalist Alexandre Lazarow shows in this insightful and instructive book, this Silicon Valley "gospel" is due for a refresh - and it comes from what he calls the "frontier", the growing constellation of startup ecosystems, outside of the Valley and other major economic centers, that now stretches across the globe. The frontier is a truly different world where startups often must cope with political or economic instability and lack of infrastructure, and where there might be little or no access to angel investors, venture capitalists, or experienced employee pools.

While many blamed Wall Street for the financial meltdown, Aftershock points a finger at a national economy in which wealth is increasingly concentrated at the top - and where a grasping middle class simply does not have the resources to remain viable.

Over the past two centuries or so, capitalism has undergone profound changes - economic cycles that veer from boom to bust - from which it has always emerged transformed and strengthened. Surveying this turbulent history, Paul Mason's Postcapitalism argues that we are on the brink of a change so big and so profound that this time capitalism itself, the immensely complex system within which entire societies function, will mutate into something wholly new.

Some good ideas
This book starts out a little slow, almost began to think it was a commercial touting all of Mr Dents predictions and statistics. But the content does get better on into the book. While I doubt some of the content, I found some of the advice in the latter parts of the book to be sound and insightful. Statistics are something that can be interpreted in so many different ways that I tend to be skeptical, especially in the area of economics, Still his conclusions were interesting and some of them I would imagine to be somewhat accurate.

Great Advice
Major amount of great advice. Enjoyed that the Naration is also the author. I listened as I walked my dogs each day, so now need to go back through at a time I can also take notes.

Not worth it
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I can not refer anyone to this book because it needs the companion workbook.
What was most disappointing about Harry S. Dent Jr.’s story?
No workbook
Any additional comments?
Don't buy this book! a workbook download is referred to throughout the audio, but the workbook does not exist. I even tried to contact Harry S, Dent at his website and no one could help me, they could not find a workbook for this audible book and you need it to follow a long. What a waste of money.
