Story
In a steel-and-lead-encased bunker 20 feet below the basement level of his house, a soldier waits for his final orders. On the surface, a plague ravages the planet, infecting over 90% of the populace. The bacterium burrows through the brain, destroying all signs of humanity and leaving behind little more than base, prehistoric instincts. The infected turn into hyper-aggressive predators, with an insatiable desire to kill and feed. During a cross border shopping trip, a family vanishes. No reason. No ransom. No cry for help. Before The End
Before The End is the second book in this series, but could be read first. This story starts with the days before and then the very first days of a zombie outbreak. These are my favorite! I love stories of the first days and given the reason why it happened to begin with! Well written and kept me listening long after I should have went to bed. Narrator did a good job.

Excellent Story
I loved this story. The characters are great. We find out how the virus started, and why. It is all tangled up in a relationship that our main character has tried to avoid, but when here ex calls her, she runs to the rescue. Then everything falls apart and our main character tries to warn others about what is going on. I was glued to my seat and sucking in my breath at every turn. The narrator does an excellent job at bring the book to life. I would recommend listening to this book.

Top notch!
I really enjoyed the first book but I must say that this one captured my interest straight from the start. I also appreciated the narrator more on this book as well.
the back story was extremely interesting and I can't wait for the next book to discover more about the way this virus acts and the vaccine/mutation that Toni created. great book and am loving this series.

Total Game Changer!
So, in book one, we mostly follow Logan, who has come into the zombie apocalypse while on vacation in southern England. In this book, we start at the beginning with Jessica, who is a reporter, trying to figure out a cryptic phone call from her ex. Same timeline as book one, but from a completely different viewpoint. At the end of book one, you see the moment Logan first sees Jess and the news van. I never expected her misadventures would be even crazier than his! And SOOO much darker. I've already started book three, which takes it up ANOTHER notch. So far, they might still get containment, or at least a vaccine or cure, which sort of makes our current pandemic seem mild by comparison. I mean, hey, we aren't trying to eat each other... Yet...

I really liked this. It's a interesting, fantastic zombie novel with a likable main character, along with an equally good narrator.

great listen
I want to say that's it's a page turner, however that doesn't apply with the audios, but what I can say is that when listening in the car I was disappointed when I arrived at my destination!! The narrator did an excellent job with the read.

Great story! Long Story!
This was overall a good storyline..it just seemed to drag on a bit. I think it was SO descriptive it was too descriptive..Like by the time Jess was through describing someone's features...or what the doorway looked like...or how the van looked on the outside...I was ready to move on long before then. I love the storyline and premise...just a bit drawn out for me. The narration is quite perfect!

On the edge of my seat
a great story. I was completely invested in this story. I needed and wanted to know what would happen next. not your typical zombie book. no special bunkers, go bags, or amazing find of stash of weapons. an absolute must read.

Really good take on how it all began
I enjoyed the story for the most part. GJ Stevens description of how it all started is a new one for me. At times it seemed to be a story of a dysfunctional relationship more than the beginning of the Zombie pandemic. Sarah Kempton did a good job but it was like she put such emphasis on the first word of every sentence and then read normal. Like JESS thought to herself, "IF only I had known what Toni was doing. THEN I could have done something about it. BUT how was I to know?"s Other than that, she did great. Very pleasant voice. I will be sure to pick up Book 3.
