About this listen

A deadly infection spreads across Europe. The Undead series: a terrifying account of one man desperately struggling to survive this harrowing event day by day. Part one - days one to three.

Howie is at home on a rare Friday night off work when an infection which has rapidly spread across Europe hits his hometown on the South Coast of England. Luck sees him through the first night when many others are taken down and infected, only to rise again as the undead. In surviving, Howie quickly learns and evolves, developing a new set of skills that will save him from disaster.

With a former work colleague, Dave, at his side, he braves the urban squalor of a ruined Portsmouth and begins to understand his desire to remain good in a world rapidly descending into chaos, where only the strongest survive.

Zombie apocalypse fun and adventure

What can I say zombies, an unsuspecting reluctant hero, blood, guts and English accents!!! What is not to love. No truly all joking aside this was a good solid zombie apocalypse survival story that can stand proud beside others such as zombie fallout/Tartufo and Zomblog or Dead/Brown. The main character is not a soldier or martial arts survival expert he is just a normal guy who finds himself in the middle of some crazy SH$T and has to do what he can to survive. He’s a decent guy so despite being scared out o his mind he does attempt to try to help some other people along the way as well. He seems to survive the first horrible night purely by good luck and some surprisingly quick thinking, he evens shocks himself at what he is able to do to survive. He’s scared and just trying to find his family and get away from the hungry dead that are quickly popping up everywhere as zombies seem to do!!! I luv these stories as I can really put myself in the story and imagine what I would do in the same situation. Escapism at its best people. I call it Zombie apocalypse therapy!!! Try it and see life’s problems seem much less scary if compare then to facing dead coming back to life to stalk and eat us!!! Ok ok enough about my life strategy’s, this story is interesting and fast paced. The story line stays focused on our main character and does not wander which I much prefer to when the author jumps around to different story lines. The narration is good. I mean I consider Wheaton or Porter to be the stellar narrators but this guy Morgan did a very good job and I could believe his was the voice of my main character I was listening to as he fought to survive those first few days of the ZA! In my book if the narrator does not cause any distractions from my enjoyment of the story then they get a pass, by if I can actually listen to their voice and narration and feel as though I am hearing the main character or whoever speak to me than they are definitely doing a very good job as this was totally!!!

Fresh outlook on a dead topic

What made the experience of listening to The Undead the most enjoyable?

Honest characters with a dry sense of wit. Not the typical Zombie book that relies on the go to always available weapons. Sensible use of malay weapons.

What did you like best about this story?

Great narration.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed out loud a number of times. The book defiantly has a British dry sense of humor.

Interesting take on the opening days

I went into this book with moderate expectations due to the prior reviews. It turned out to entertaining and do believe book 2 will be worth the credit.

Love it to pieces

After first sampling the free download I've been curious about this series. Now I'm dying for the next in the series. Great story, good detail, comedic at times, and good narration. Personally Steven Weber is the best so far, however Adam does a marvelous job.

One of best series I have heard. This is my third time listening. Hayward has details in his telling I either missed and

Or enjoyed again. Liked both readers to 16th book. Hope the author will continue this series. The characters are vivid and often humorous. Thanks for many hours of pleasurable listening.
