About this listen

Sometimes there are monsters hiding in the people we love. Monsters we don't see until it's too late. As a psychologist to abuse victims, I see the damage those monsters can cause every day and the hell the women go through to regain their lives.

My experiences in life are a double-edged sword. Without them, I wouldn't understand the women who seek my professional help. Having them has ruined me for any woman. I refuse to let history repeat itself. I know the statistics of what should become of me, but I'm fighting the monster inside of me every day.

I can't turn my back on any woman who needs my help, and Dr. Lindsey Perkins is no exception. With an escaped convict she helped put away after her, she needs my protection more than anyone. But when she gets too close, who's going to save her from me?

I've built these walls for a reason. A reason Lindsey is determined to uncover. It's better for her to only know me as Dr. Hatcher, and leave Joseph behind the walls.

Ages 18+ due to adult content and violence.

Story felt a little long

What did you like best about Behind His Walls? What did you like least?

I liked the basis of the two friends to lovers story but it dragged on a little too long and there were too many different types of drama thrown into the story. The basis of the story I felt was the ex patient of Lindsey's and that's what put here staying where she did. That might have been enough story but then we got into both Lindsey's background and family then Joseph's. It felt like the story went off track and lost focus for a while.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I liked the performance once I got used to it. The voice actors were good but it was the audio that didn't flow right and was inconsistent. Didn't sound professionally done at times.

Behind His Walls Review...

Decent plot, a little slow in parts and wordy, but kept my interest. Narration okay.

Wow! Loved This Ride!

Behind His Walls exceeded ALL my expectations! B.L. Mooney did an amazing job developing both the plot, and characters. It was steamy, as much as it was suspenseful, but the emotional element really took me for a ride. I felt every up and down these characters went through.

Dr. Joseph Hatcher is caring psychologist who specializes in helping abused women learn to love themselves, and become stronger. However, there is another side of Joseph, one that prevents him from having a loving committed relationship, but rather one where he has to be in control.

Dr. Lindsey Perkins is a strong psychologist who's fascinated with the criminal mind, and dedicated to helping her patients. When one of her patients is beyond help, she will find herself being the one who needs help.

While Joseph and Lindsey may be colleagues, they are attracted to each other, but keep their relationship on a professional level. Their friendship will be tested, when Joseph insists she stay with him so he can protect her. Lindsey wants to take their relationship to the next level, and pushes Joseph to determine if he has the same feelings, but she'll find herself facing and processing feelings, when Joseph pushes back in his own way. While these two had relationship issues, they did at least act like adults.

Marcio Catalano and Veronica Pace did a fantastic job narrating! I loved the extra effort this duo put into narrating the audio to match the m/f dialogue, instead of narrating just from the m/f POV's. It's rare to come across an audiobook that's narrated in this fashion, so KUDOS! The sound effects for the flashbacks were great, and made it easy to identify these scenes.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review, via audiobookBoom dot com, and LOVE It! While there was a slow start, it picked up fairly quickly, and then BAM, it had me totally transfixed on these characters, I couldn't look away if I wanted too. Just Wow! Kudos B.L. Mooney! I'm keeping my eyes open for more audiobooks.

Worth a credit! Yes, most definitely YES.

A good book

A little confusing in the beginning, needed more background but I liked the two narrators. One for the male parts and one for the female. I really liked the way you were drawn into not only the active dude nice but also the mental. Fallowing Joseph through his issues but Austin still loomed in the background.

Unique

This story line was so unique that I couldn't help but love it. Adding in mystery, intrigue, sex and love, it was not a home run, but a score none the less.

Marcio Catalano, I realize he does take a little getting used to, but I am so used to hearing his voice that I absolutely love his narration. He makes me swoon and makes me feel. Love him. Veronica Pace is a no brained for me. Love her narration!

Such a lovely book

I live when a book it's simple buy full of emotions.. the fear of having any of them hurt was a good addition to the story.. the funny parts were just the cherry on top.. I think I'm in love with Joseph.. another book boyfriend.

Great story

This book was nothing like I expected. I thought this was just a romance but there was a mystery element to the story that made it very good. Lindsey and Joseph are psychologists who share an office but have two different practices. Joseph went through some things in his childhood that made him closed off to having a relationship. Lindsey has had a few issues in the past too and one comes back to bite her when a past patient she helped put in jail breaks out.

This story was mainly about the romance between Lindsey and Joseph. They were attracted to each other but Joseph didn't want to ruin the relationship between them. He was convinced he would turn into his father. It was interesting to see Joseph with such strong feelings that he couldn't change considering he was a psychologist and helped others. I also think he used that to push others away by always analyzing them. Lindsey was soo sweet. She really wore her heart on her sleeve and I was convinced Joseph would break her heart but he stepped up when it counted. The mystery with the old patient was the most shocking thing in the book. I was so surprised when things about him were revealed. I really enjoyed listening to this book. The story was good but I think I enjoyed it more because of the narration. 4 stars for the story

This was narrated by Marcio Catalano and Veronica Pace. This was my first time listening to either of these narrators and really enjoyed the narration where Marcio did all the male voices and Veronica did all the female voices. Some voices Veronica did, I swear sounded like a totally different person. She did an awesome job. I really enjoyed Marcio's voice for a certain character. It upped the creep factor. Look forward to more from these narrators. 4 stars for narration.

Fantastic blend of romance and suspense

Lindsey and Joseph are co-workers. Both are psychologists. One working with clients who have experienced abuse, the other concentrating on exploring the minds of criminals. One needs protection from an escaped convict, the other needs to come to terms with an upbringing characterized by abuse. One is looking for a loving, committed relationship, the other learned from an early age that you need to build up walls and refuse to let people in for your own health and safety as much as for theirs.
This has been my third book by B.L. Mooney in recent weeks now, and I've become a big fan of her creative mind. She crafts wonderfully complex main characters, surrounds them with interesting, well-developed side characters and puts them through intriguing storylines that are dark and emotional and combine thrilling suspense with scorching romance.
I loved the way the audiobook was narrated with the female narrator and the male narrator interlacing throughout. The audio production with the sound effects indicating flashback scenes was also really well done. What I was missing, in particular from the male narrator, was the emotions. This was such a highly emotive story, but the delivery was more suited to a news broadcast at times.
