About this listen

Kwen Phifer planned to spend the last few weeks of college chumming it up with the career counselor and winding down once finals were over, but, unfortunately for him, those plans fail to come to fruition.

He's been approached by someone who explains how he had been chosen to halt an oncoming cataclysm. He lacks skill, experience, and grit. He has to acquire these, in short order, to rise to the challenge and complete his task: to face an unknown foe that seeks to bring about the rebirth of forgotten times.

Fast Paced Urban Fantasy

Loved the apocalyptic fantasy setting. The story might be short but it gets going quickly and doesn't leave the reader bored. Besides, there's sure to be plenty more in Book 2. The Unsung Chapters are an interesting addition, giving perspectives on friends, enemies and strangers alike. Give it a read and you won't be disappointed.

Interesting read.

I always enjoy a new voice in storytelling, in narration and writing. This story is full new and diverse characters with a new kind of tale where magic meets science. This meeting sure isn’t pretty. It follows Kwen, a college student, who is thrust into a whirlwind of an adventure after strange light starts appearing in spots in Atlanta. Strange things start happening in the city after the light appears and before you know it Kwen has to go through a crash course on how to save the world. There’s also a love interest 😁! I enjoyed what the author did at the end by including “Unsung.” In Unsung he tells parts of the story through other characters’ perspectives, characters that made an appearance in the main story and characters that are important to the main story. I can’t wait to read/listen to the next novel in the series, because there has to be a sequel! I need to know what happens to the world and the interesting characters that we were introduced to. I would consider this a #YA novel and I recommend it to those who would like to know what one possibility of an encounter with the old world of magic and the new world of science would look like, those who enjoy to read about mythical creatures, and those who enjoy a fresh new voice in writing and narration. Enjoy! #YesiReads
