About this listen

A sweeping adventure of the Forgotten Realms to mark the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, written by New York Times best-selling author R.A. Salvatore.

When Drizzt Do’Urden first entered Icewind Dale in 1347, he found a place quite unlike anywhere he had ever known, a land of freezing winds and ferocious monsters, of dramatic vistas and unrelenting challenges. Most of all, though, he found a land populated by folk who knew all too well the price of a misstep, whether walking into a yeti den or trusting a stranger.

Making his way in those early days was no easy task, but Drizzt would find focus and joy in watching the antics of a girl and a bunch of dwarfs trying to keep her from getting herself killed. A girl who would become his friend, who would become a woman, who would become his wife.

When Breezy Do’Urden, the daughter of that marriage, enters Icewind Dale more than 150 years later, she finds a land no more tamed. And while her father’s reputation has mostly smoothed the way for her among the ever-suspicious people, she carries her own concerns, confusion, and a trauma realized in the difficult journey through the Spine of the Word Mountain.

She also carries the blood on her hands.

I have been reading Mr Salvatore more years than i can fathom. From his first book of Icewind dale and all that followed, this in my opinion is one of the best I have had the pleasure of reading / listening to, and eagerly wait for more on her journeys. You are a master story teller and very few will surpass your gift. Thank you

Breezy

I’d like to have the entire legacy be focused on Breezy from now on. The enlightened Drizzt isn’t nearly as interested as the more savage, ranger Drizzt. Breezy is a breath of fresh air, pardon the pun. Good for RA if he transitions.
As always, the companions are like a broken in pair of boots. Comfortable and secure. Story is fun and nostalgic. All in all, worth it.

Predictable but fun!!!!

I really hope Salvatore keeps this story line going. The future could be filled with some great stories. Please keep telling these stories🤞

The future looks bright

The author takes us to the past where it all began and when Drizzt first began to learn to hunt the creatures there. Then we are taken to the future where we meet Breezy who thinks she’s ready and like her father has a lot to learn. This was a good tale and I hope to see more from the author in future books.

I love all the stories that Salvatore writes about Drizzt and his friends and family! This one does not disappoint. It’s nice to see how Bree is coming into her own. Too bad it’s not a longer story, but maybe it’s enough to hold me over for now.

A short but great look at the life of Drizzt’s daughter

I like the fact that the two stories almost mirror each other, and Victor Bevine’s narration is always excellent.

Can’t wait for the next one.
