About this listen

Welcome back to Paramour Bay as USA Today best-selling author Kennedy Layne continues her cozy paranormal mystery series that will have you brewing up a cup of tea well past midnight...

It's been two months since Raven Marigold discovered she was a witch, and she is handling her situation with grace. Well, if you discount the fact that she caught her blouse on fire and made her cat's tail go numb for four hours. The bottom line is that Raven is succeeding in her pursuit of this new mystical life she's been given.

Someone must have missed that memo, though. Raven finds herself smack dab in the middle of another murder investigation. Every piece of evidence points to the town treasurer as being the guilty party, but she isn't so sure the case is that cut and dried.

It is then that Raven gets the brilliant idea of using a bit of witchcraft to help out the handsome, young sheriff. After all, what could go wrong with a bewitching blend, an enchanted spell book, and a haunted inn on the edge of town?

Fun cozy mystery with a bit of magic

I really enjoyed the first two books in the series. The only criticisms I have are that are pretty short and the use of Paramour Bay as the setting. I know it can just mean love, but it is usually used in reference to an illicit or adulterous lover. So I internally cringe every time I hear the main character state the location, which temporarily interrupts my suspension of disbelief. I look forward to more of the novels being added to the plus catalog.

Great start to a new series

Kennedy Lane has crafted a great story to continue her new series, Paramour Bay Cozy Mysteries. The characters are well rounded and as believable as possible. Hollis Jackson as always, gives a great performance as she brings it all to together. I look forward to more in this series.

Frustrating Protagonist

It’s frustrating that nothing impacts Raven. There’s warnings over and over to not do things. She’s does them and there’s no consequences. It’s tiring to listen to. I’d rather there not be any warnings of dangerous since they don’t matter. She’s could be a cute character but it’s a bit annoying that she has no understanding of the magical world, can be headstrong over weak conclusions and everything always ends up perfectly ok even when the story is trying to build suspense.

Another good mystic mystery...

These are quick quick reads/listens that are 1/2 Nancy Drew 1/2 Sabrina the Teenage Witch grown up.
This is only book #2, but I'm starting to think that these don't need to be enjoyed in sequential order. We'll see if I am right though as I am jumping right into book #3 😊

I love Raven’s relationship with Leo

I really enjoy this series. Leo and raven have a funny relationship and I love that she tends to work her way up to the correct conclusion through her relationships in the town.

Cute little series!

Cute story. You can definitely start with this book and figure out what’s going on without reading the first one. I liked the first one a lot- though it took a while to get into it.
The narrator was wonderful, with a couple of exceptions. She mispronounced several words and the voice of Ted sounded like a zombie, so I thought he was one until I realized everyone could see him. Heidi’s voice is quite over the top and doesn’t match with how she is described. I really like the setting of the story and the tea shop with magical blends. I did not expect the twist the end the way that it did, so that was great! I’m looking forward to the next in the series!
