Publisher's summary

To stay out of jail, this snarky psychic must uncover a werewolf's killer. Does she stand a ghost of a chance?

Nora never believed in ghosts until one popped up asking for her help. And she never believed in witches...until she discovered she was one.

Now trapped in the quaint supernatural town of Eastwind, she must learn the ins and outs of her powers before she gets herself killed.

When she stumbles on a murder in the greasy kitchen of an all-night diner, all wands point to Nora the newcomer as the prime suspect.

With the help of her bacon-obsessed canine familiar, a too-hot-to-be-true waiter, and the spirit of the deceased, Nora's only chance at clearing her name is to serve up the real killer on a silver platter. Is justice on the menu or will the guilty party dine and dash?

cute and funny

Very cute, and funny listen. Not my usual, but was pleasantly surprised. I will keep listening to the rest of the series. Its worth the book credit if your looking for an easy cute paranormal to relax into.

A NewFavorite Series

I stumbled across this series and if book 1 is any indicator, I will thoroughly enjoy them all.

Hmm

My instinct was to say that it's a very average plot but with excellent narration, but that's a bit simplistic, and after all, I did finish it.
On reflection I think a lot of my vaguely negative feelings stem from it being the first novel of what is intended to be a series. It was extremely disorienting with a whole new ?parallel world and a lot of new characters all at once. I found it confusing and have certainly seen this concept handled better, but I'm curious enough to check out the next book in the series (although I don't think I'd be willing to spend a credit on it and glad this 1 was 'free')

Good story the constant political correctness too much

Good story the constant political correctness stuff finally made me stop listening- ugh- going off about Barbies- come on- this is supposed to be a fun, light read.

Disappointing

I adore supernatural stories but these ones don’t dive into the interesting parts. It’s as if the author purposely skips the how and why of the magic. The lead character just hops from one character to the next not exploring the world. So much is skipped.

Can only hope that my crossing be this interesting

This story would be good for pre-teen kids and could be use to show it is better to be good instead of bad. Overall, a feel good story.

Likeable, fun side paranormal characters

I’m actually writing this to the author. When something dramatic & life changing happens early on, it would have been easy to let the main character wallow, whine, spend time being angsty. You managed to stay off that bus. She doesn’t ignore her sudden change in circumstances but responds with eye rolls, snark, & a certain amount of skepticism. She isn’t certain but not insecure about her own perceptions... she knows she is resilent, knows she will understand more as time progresses and accepts her new circumstances with growing curiousity & actually enjoys the transition with wonder, courage & a bit of whimsy.

The mystery was so-so but I loved Nora’s new world, full of characters, animals, & species which I hope make it into future books.

I tend to read the next one. Popcorn books like this can be insipid or can be amazing. Like old films with Cary Grant or Irene Dunn, light hearted journeys with staying power are almost impossible to create but, to me, are a kind of perfection. Janet Evanovich created the Stephanie Plum series. She didn’t really get it right until book 5 and then they are, although ridiculous, amazing through book 12. (We won’t talk about book 9.) I really have hopes for this character & this series.

Cute

I gave it a four star rating because it’s one of those stories that is not intense gory with up-and-down moods It’s the sort of story you can put on and finish your whole kitchen and other chores even shampooing the carpets while you’re listening to it Was upbeat enough to do all that without worrying that you miss something it was simple Cute

Little character development

There wasn’t a lot of character development. That made it hard to get invested in the story. I had to force myself to finish the book. The plot was very simple and predictable. I did enjoy the narrator.
