About this listen

We have been taught to rely on willpower to exercise, diet, study, quit smoking, overcome procrastination, and ultimately accomplish any of our goals. The more you push yourself, the more work you can get done. Push yourself hard. No pain, no gain.

This revolutionary audiobook brings an entirely new approach to achieve consistency, persistence, and self-discipline without forcing yourself or depending solely on the willpower. Take a deep look into what allows us to resist the worst distractions and simply take action, produce, accomplish, and perform. You’ll learn how the top achievers consistently get things done as well as what drives us on an instinctual, subconscious level to act.

This isn’t just an audiobook. It’s a road map to human psychology and will allow you to achieve whatever you want, every single time. When you understand what drives your brain and the true roots of self-discipline, you’ll be able to overcome your temporary discomfort and work like crazy without ever forcing yourself.

Discover the secrets of self-discipline that no one talks about. Get it now.

He talks about science and dopamine as motivation. It is a reward chemical the brain thrives on. It is also why drugs are so hard to quit. He is basically saying by controlling what you focus on, you can control what you use your dopamine on. In other words, you can trick yourself into getting more done just by what you put your time and attention into. He says in the beginning of the book he takes a week off every quarter just to waste dopamine on pointless activities because he disciplines himself not to do it during the other times. It is funny but you could still do this with any drug and nonproductive activity, like playing video games. He is trapping himself to get more work done.

This is a really nice little book with lots of great tips to help yourself on the road to happiness and loving yourself more. Mike talks about how it is so common for people to ignore their own feelings, even though they would never do that to someone else.
