Science based discipline

He talks about science and dopamine as motivation. It is a reward chemical the brain thrives on. It is also why drugs are so hard to quit. He is basically saying by controlling what you focus on, you can control what you use your dopamine on. In other words, you can trick yourself into getting more done just by what you put your time and attention into. He says in the beginning of the book he takes a week off every quarter just to waste dopamine on pointless activities because he disciplines himself not to do it during the other times. It is funny but you could still do this with any drug and nonproductive activity, like playing video games. He is trapping himself to get more work done.

This is a really nice little book.

This is a really nice little book with lots of great tips to help yourself on the road to happiness and loving yourself more. Mike talks about how it is so common for people to ignore their own feelings, even though they would never do that to someone else.
