About this listen

This program is read by Noah Galvin, who starred in The Good Doctor, Dear Evan Hansen, The Real O'Neals, and Booksmart.

An unashamedly proud, loud, and hilarious novel about a small town that’s forever changed by a big gay wedding, perfect for fans of Red, White & Royal Blue and The Guncle

Two grooms. One mother of a problem.

Barnett Durang has a secret. No, not THAT secret. His widowed mother has long known he’s gay. The secret is Barnett is getting married. At his mother’s farm. In their small Louisiana town. She just doesn’t know it yet.

It’ll be an intimate affair. Just two hundred or so of the most fabulous folks Barnett is shipping in from the “heathen coasts,” as Mom likes to call them, turning her quiet rescue farm for misfit animals into a most unlikely wedding venue.

But there are forces, both within this modern new family and in the town itself, that really don’t want to see this handsome couple march down the aisle. It’ll be the biggest, gayest event in the town’s history if they can pull it off, and after a glitter-filled week, nothing will ever be the same. Big Gay Wedding is an uplifting audiobook about the power of family and the unconditional love of a mother for her son.

“My heart grew three sizes reading Big Gay Wedding. This charming book had me snorting unattractively, laughing uncontrollably, and ugly crying in between. A poignant delight from start to finish. Read it, damn it! Just read it!”—Bianca Marais, bestselling author of The Witches of Moonshyne Manor

Big Gay Wedding is a quirky family story packed with hilarious and tender moments. Lovers of Schitt’s Creek will delight in Byron Lane’s cast of lovable misfits as they band together to plan a big gay wedding, the first in a Southern town."—Kate Russo, author of Super Host

I have read and listened to many stories, especially gay romance. This story is by far one of my favorites. Byron created a full cast of characters, each with a developed storyline. This book had me crying one minute and laughing the next. Even the animals had a part. Centered around the acceptance by a mother of her gay son, a relationship we can all relate to whether we had an accepting mother, had a mother who accepted us later on as in this story or longed for that relationship, the author unraveled the conditions placed on her love for her son because of religion and brought us to a place where their relationship blossomed into one we all long to be a part of. Her acceptance of her son allowed the family to expand, the community to celebrate and even brought a new prosperity to the delightful family farm. I loved this story and I can't wait to see what else is available by Byron Lane. I also enjoy hearing stories that are narrated by Noah Galvin.

Great read

I thought this was a very entertaining story. It is fun and witty and well written. The narrator is good, but I found that some of his characters sound very nasally like they’re congested. I think the LGBTQ theme was handled well and it was pretty realistic. I would recommend this book.

Too long and Noah’s voice is hard to listen to. End at the wedding ‘s end.

Too long by half

I’m a big fan of the author’s work and how he creates such depth in his characters. This story was touching and I didn’t want it to end.

Got to love Byron Lane - his latest tale is a perfect mixture of cultures colliding, awakening, and forgiveness. I loved every second of it and longed for more as soon as it ended. A must listen/read. Noah Galvin is the perfect narrator, too. Grab this one now. :)

A heartwarming, fun, irreverent romp
