About this listen

Bookstore owner Aubrey Barnes likes his quiet, orderly London life, thank you very much. His shop may be struggling, his only employee is a menace, and his plumbing is one creaky pipe away from disaster, but he can handle it. Maybe. He cannot, however, handle the film company that's thrown his Soho street into chaos.

And he definitely can't handle the charismatic American actor Blake Sinclair.

Which is why he's extremely reluctant to lease out his shop as a set for Blake's film, but it's his one opportunity to save his business. Now he can't get away from the distractingly hot actor.

Then Aubrey finds himself alone with Blake in a trailer, and what happens next turns London's heat wave into an inferno that leaves him breathless.

Aubrey is not cut out for the high-profile life of dating a celebrity, especially an American actor who's not even out yet. Good thing their tryst is absolutely not going anywhere.

Of course, when you expect nothing, that's exactly when it starts to mean everything.

Contains mature themes.

As Good As Red, White and Royal Blue

As I listened to this, I felt the same desire to keep going I still feel for Red White and Royal Blue. I can highly recommend this book to anyone.

Cute but slow

This book was really cute, but very slow. The narrator was excellent. Nice Notting Hill fan fiction.

A perfect mostly calm a slow developing story — the best

I liked the story for its soothing narration, slow development, very little drama, and a lot of caring affection.

Easy Banter, Believable Attraction.

Fun story, and easy to fall into the romance of it all. Just wish they had shared some resolve to Blake’s explosive fear of industry rejection.

Modern day Notting Hill and neurosis

Good story though very much a call back to the structure and settings of the movie Notting Hill. Great vocal acting and emotion. Well worth the listen.

Hea

A bunch of Aubrey’s worries were really just him being overly dramatic. I was so confused at what the problem was and he wasn’t even trying to fix his bookshop problem either just complaining about it and putting it off. Then about opportunity comes to help with money and he says no?? Like ok this is just ridiculous. Blake was so wrong for doing all that in public then getting mad when they got photographed. Eli should’ve definitely been kicked to the curb smh. The only good bits were the time aubrey and blake spent together

Another “gay” story that feels like a woman wrote it

I have no clue who Hayden Stone is, but this feels like yet another “gay” romance written by a woman. The sex feels like a woman’s idea of what she thinks gay male sex is. The dialogue and the emotional intelligence of the characters feel like a woman’s— for better and otherwise. I’m a gay man and just felt so outside of this story. More than the fantasy of falling in love with a celebrity (and I’ve actually had that experience personally), there was just very little here that felt in any way authentic. I didn’t dislike it. It just felt thoroughly false. Like someone who thinks they know what the gay male experience is but absolutely and clearly just doesn’t. Fun. But phony.

Lovely!

I don't understand the reviewer that didn't like the main character. I absolutely loved Aubrey. He was not a wet blanket by any means. It was a lovey romantic rom com with a quirky book store owner who was constantly surprising himself with his own courage, and an up and coming actor who seemed all together but was also learning how to be courageous himself. The reviewer posted that they were hoping Blake would leave Aubrey, however I wouldn't have blamed Aubrey for leaving Blake. Lovely ending to a lovely story.
