About this listen

I will not be ruled by fear.

A depraved emperor. A wasted realm. A dying race.

With Tyrrik by my side, I’ll lead the charge to remedy it all.

After discovering the rightful heir to the Phaetyn, an alliance with the healers should be easy as pancakes. But while the armies of Verald and Gemond march to the border for war, the emperor delivers a crushing blow that threatens to put everything at risk.

As I fight my father’s staggering power, I’m compelled to face evil on his terms. A twisted darkness worse than anything I’ve experienced.

Nothing could’ve prepared me for this.

How far would you go to defeat a merciless sovereign?

I’ll lie to the liars. I’ll betray the betrayers. I’ll kill the killers. I will conquer my fear.

If you love dark fantasy, you'll be captivated by The Darkest Drae. With pulse-pounding action, witty humor, and slow-burn romance, you’ll fall in love with dragons like you’ve never seen before.

Due to thematic elements, this series is recommended for mature YA+.

Finally

This book was by far the better of the three, definitely a few annoyances. But not enough to have me stop listening to it. Love the world building the hidden secrets. It had me in the edge of my seat for the ending would definitely re-read!

well worth it.

very nice story line. enjoyed the series a lot despite the heroine's tendency to constantly and annoyingly do the opposite of what is expected of any sane person.

Love

The main character makes me laugh and the supporting characters round out the story. Loved all three books!

Disappointing ending

Overall the story was pretty good. The characters were good. The person reading the story did a great job! And I was happy that the last chapter was life after the main problem was solved. I like when an author gives us a little bit of life afterwards. But the ending was very lame. It was very confusing. It was hard to understandWhat was happening in the battle and why they made their ending choice at the end. It made no sense. I’m happy with the outcome of the story, just the last bit of the journey getting there was very confusing and almost random at times. But overall it was a good story.

Best Shifter Series Ever

I truly loved this entire trilogy. This definitely wasn't a usual shifter series. I enjoyed this much more because of the way the ad authors wrote it. I also was skeptical when I saw there was only a female narrator and no Male one but I must say that Sierra Kline was fantastic! I'll be looking for more books from Kelly St. Clare and Raye Wagner.

Too much....

I really really enjoyed the first two books in this series. But this third book was just too much for me!! The narrator makes it sound like everything Ryn says is with overwhelming emotion.. it was annoying. Also Ryn “snorts” and “snickers” far too much. It’s like what started off as some badass characters turned into ridiculously mushy and annoying characters in this third book.

So much potential!

OVERALL it was a good book, filled my extra time, had decent amounts of suspense, love and adventure I like to read. But the world descriptions, lack of a more mature love interest and main characters petulance left me a little wanting. However I enjoyed the storyline for the most part and would say read it as a good filler of time. I look forward to seeing these two authors grow. They have a lot of potential.

**Spoilers Below**

The first book captivated me with the first few chapters, and I knew I’d want to finish the story. It has some heavier undertones with death, starvation and torture- but Rhyns adolescent views and stubbornness bring some humor to it. I felt like this book should have been written for 20-30s audience but instead it took on the undertone of a 13-14 year old girl. Albeit with the violence not being something I’d want an early teen/tween to read. I’d love to have had more descriptions on what Rhyn looked like, what she was wearing, what the surroundings were like etc. Also, I prefer a bit sexier storyline as well, what can I say I’m over 25 and longed for a steamier series than what it turned out to be. I want both good sex and an incredible story, too much to ask for?

I also felt the narrators depiction of Rhyn was irritating at best. Too much emotional inflection in times it wasn’t needed, which is why she felt more like 14 rather than 18. I do believe the narrator is very talented- I suggest she reign it in a little bit on the petulance and emotional depiction of the main character. I’d have loved Rhyn to be read and written a bit tougher- can’t fault the narrator for a badly written heroines response! In my opinion the books heroine had so much potential- I wish I was part of the editorial team! Think Feyre from ACOTAR, she grew so much in that series, and Rhyn had THAT kind of potential.

****A note for the authors here.***

The End of the third book was not my favorite. I don’t want to give too much away, but the dream part where she wakes up and it was recounting the final scene... very confusing. Really really disliked it. Still not exactly sure how Rhyn saved Tyrick... just felt more like things were written into a corner and the ending was half thought through and very rushed.

I love the story, I think it was a fantastic premise but ultimately it missed on a few points. Keep writing! You are talented and I’d definitely pick up more of your books.

Really!?!

I started this series, liking the story line...enough to continue. It was a very well imagined and had sooo much potential. Sadly, I figured the main character being young and unknown to whom she was why she was portrayed as she was , very , very immature and annoying..OMG....but it she only got WORSE as the books went on, Id assumed the author would give her an air of maturing as the series unraveled.....but i barley made it through the last book...and only because of the story itself I stuck it out...It would have been far better if the main character would have shown more maturity and stopped the horrible drug out whining.....I really wanted to enjoy it...but now i feel i just wasted my money....Even thought it was a YA series....it was still worse than ive ever read.

its ok

an 18y that never thought about "Mating" with her handsome mate was fustrating. then after read 2 books there was no smut. just boring remarks about love making. the book only offered 5% spice. there was a scene with nudity and sex but the writter made it seem shameful.
