About this listen

Dying and trapped in pain, Dustan Wheaton cries out to Heaven...but it’s a demon who answers.

Salvation comes at a price. Dustan must become the demons’ most deadly assassin, slaying angels on Earth before they can recruit mortal souls into a war that has raged for eons.

With the demons fanning his hatred, Dustan is eager to kill those he blames for ignoring his prayers and allowing his parents to die. He travels the world destroying his angelic enemies until sent to face a mysterious woman.

The Dancer is unlike any foe Dustan has encountered. He finds himself inexplicably drawn to her, and for the first time, he questions his orders. Her claim that his entire life has been a lie threatens to shatter lifelong beliefs and sows doubts about his demon family.

Trusting this woman will mean turning his back on those who saved him and gave his life purpose, not to mention place a target on his back for angels and demons alike. Doubting her could mean the end of all humankind.

Absolutely FANTASTIC

This has become my most FAVORITE Heaven & Hell audiobook or regular book for that matter. The audiobook had me hook, line and sinker from the first chapter. So much so, that my earbuds didn't leave my ears until it was at the "Thank you for using Audible." The characters are so well developed that you can't help but like them all. Yes, I even liked the evil ones. (Guess I have a dark side.) The world is well thought out and the storyline is enthralling. And as a bonus, the narrator was fantastic as well.
The only downside......I do believe this was to be a 3 book series named The Horde and the Host Trilogy but I don't think books 2 or 3 are out yet. I hope 2 comes out soon because I am dying to listen or even read more of this series. Even so, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this audiobook.

Great concept, terrible execution

I've been a subscriber to Audible since 2001 and only now do I feel compelled to write a review.

The concept is definitely an interesting one, although somewhat reminiscent of Spawn, but narrative was definitely not for me. I know that it's far easier to write a book than to read one, and I'm always wary of bashing something too hard, but I honestly felt cheated reading this. The characters were such obvious tropes, the love interest felt so forced and rapid, and while there were some great ideas, they were lost in a limp story. It was really very disappointing.
