Dark Fantasy Series Continues

The adventures and hardships continue for Silas and Dunewell. Extensive worldbuilding and character development make it easy to get caught up in the story. The narrative flows smoothly, with vivid description and dialogue. There is plenty of action, fighting, and conflicting emotions as Dunewell struggles to reconcile working within a brotherhood that he isn't sure he believes in anymore.
The ending leaves you ready to pick up the third book and carry on with the story.
Terry F. Self narrated, giving a unique voice to each character.

Another great addition to the Lords of Order and Choas series by R. J. Hanson. The world is well developed and detailed and the characters are relatable and you want them to succeed. I look forward to the next book in the series! Audio Version: Terry F. Self did a great job narrating this book.

Epic D&D Like Adventure

***Parents: movie rating, R. Mostly due to the level of violence and detail of the gore in the murders, fights and injuries. The language isn't a problem and in terms of sexual content there are some insinuations, some attractions, body shape descriptions, a morning after scene but nothing major or explicit and it's not a big part of the book.

This one tied in the first series (Heirs of Vanity) to The Lord of Order & Chaos Series with some of characters. The story picked up where the first book left off and was really hard to put down. I felt this book was much easier to follow then the first one, because it didn't have the constant retelling of the scenes from the two different characters perspectives. It had a great flow and the action was great. I do feel like it's geared more towards the young adult male D&D enthusiast but is still really enjoyable to anyone who really wants a more action packed fantasy. I am definitely looking forward to seeing where the story goes in the next book.

The narrator did a great job overall and I really enjoyed listening to him. He had pretty good differentiation between characters.

A great read

I am enjoying this series. The author did a great job with the characters and the plot, I really like Dunewell. He is a great character, he is fierce and strong, He has to complete his mission with his rather harsh companion in a world he feels has betrayed him. They will face many dangers along the way. A great read.

Baskerville Book Reviews

The saga continues. While I’m new to this series and this saga, I already consider myself a fan. This is the fifth book I’ve listened to in the Bloodlines Reforged Saga and I’ve loved every last one of them.

The story picks up right where part 1 left off. Expanding the world and lore, making a reference or two to Heirs of Vanity and Roland. It feels less like an individual book and more like a chapter in a larger novel. It ends a little abruptly for my liking, but that kinda goes with this style of writing. You finish one book and pick up the next one in the series to continue along.

One of the things I noticed about this story that I either didn’t notice in the others or wasn’t paying enough attention. Everything is incredibly descriptive. Everything from the usual environments, all the way down to smells. With each book in this series and saga, the world is ever-more fleshed out.

Unfortunately, this is a review where I don’t have as much to say as I normally would. Everything I want to say has either been covered in book 1 or in my Heirs of Vanity review. This book is one of those more of the same sequels. If you loved part 1, you’ll love this one. If you liked the first book, were indifferent or lukewarm, etc. you’ll feel the same about this book. The same goes for Heirs of Vanity.

The narrator as always is wonderful. I love the little speaking quirks he does with characters and voices to make people feel distinct.

I can’t recommend this book enough. Of all the fantasy series I’ve read, either for review or personal copies, this is easily one of my flavorites.

NOTE: This copy was provided to me free of charge. I am leaving a review as a courtesy to the author. The opinions stated in this review are mine and mine alone, I was not paid or requested to give this book a certain rating, suggestion, or approval.

This series is brilliant

Very well written. In-depth characters and storyline is very entertaining. Each focus very well thought out. Five star for the performance Terry Self performed each character magnificently.

Epic Dark Fantasy

R. J. Hanson is a master creator of dark fantasy. His world building is creative and extensive. His characters are complex and compelling. I enjoy his dark fantasy, but it is visceral and more for a mature audience. There are passages and topics that are proffered that are not for younger audiences. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Terry F Self's narration is great; however, in Chapter 3, the narration seems to switch to the left speaker instead of coming out of the main speaker and soft knocks can be heard in the background. In Chapter 4, the story switches back to the main speaker and the extemporaneous sounds can't be heard. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.
