About this listen

In Bones Would Rain from the Sky, Suzanne Clothier takes a radical new direction in understanding our life with dogs...and our mutual love. Drawing on a lifetime of experience with dogs, this nationally renowned dog trainer brings us astonishing new lessons about our animals - and ourselves. Gently, with intelligence, humor, and unfailing patience, Suzanne Clothier guides us to truly comprehend another creature's mind and heart. You will discover how our dogs see the world from their uniquely canine perspective, how we can meet their deep need for leadership without using force or coercion, and how the "laws" of canine culture often put our dogs at odds with us and our very human world. Clothier's unparalleled insights into aggression in dogs can help prevent a tragedy, including the unnecessary destruction of a pet. As in no other "dog book" or training manual, in Bones Would Rain from the Sky an extraordinary woman shows us how to find a deep connection with another being and to receive an incomparable gift: a profound, lifelong relationship with the dog you love.

Every Animal Lover Will Relish This Book

This is not a dog training book in the practical sense. This is a beautiful collection of stories and thoughts of someone who dedicated her entire life to understanding and respecting animals. Delightful content coupled with excellent narration. This is a perfect gift to animal lovers who enjoy a well written book. I will never interpret “dog aggression” the same way... the author shines a light on this issue.

Must read for all dog owners.

Incredible story telling from the wise Suzanne Clothier who has always been ahead of her time. This book will help you better understand your dog so you will innately know the best approach for Training. We spend so much time with our dogs who give us so much, why not take the time to get to know these selfless animals a bit better from a compassionate and expert perspective. Thank you Suzanne for everything you do and have done for dogs. - Michelle Oberg

Before and a beyond a training book

This will not be a step by step guide in any regard, but a multitude of stories that highlights the good and the bad of relationship building with animals.

Foundational and every trainer, person who lives with dogs, or aspiring should read this.

A book that goes beyond dog's behavior

This is a book that will give you a bigger insight of how a dog thinks and feels.

It almost contradicts what trainers say regarding the method to train dogs. That is not all white or black. Clothier explains that training depends more of the dog, the person and the environment, rather than the method. It's getting to listen and understanding what and how the dog is trying to communicate with you and how we should learn to listen better.

It is a beautiful book that also touches on subjects of mourning and the beauty of what dogs bring to the table.

I really enjoyed it, like I mentioned, it is a different book that seems to dig deeper.
