Publisher's summary

Amazon and B&N Top 100 best-selling romantic comedy and humorous mystery author D. D. Scott two-steps into your heart with Book One of her debut series. It's Chick Lit, Gone-Country. Think Sex and the City meets Urban Cowboy.

Manhattan apparel designer Roxy Rae Vaughn, who's also a still-in-the-closet, country line dancing queen, wants to be a fashion success story. Tired of being nothing more than a Fifth Avenue up-and-comer, thanks to her elitist parents, Roxy moves to Nashville, Tennessee and opens a boutique in a local tractor supply store, the only retail space she can afford. Short on cash and way, way down on luck, she rear-ends a pick-up truck belonging to a tomato-growin', bootscootin' cowboy who is anything but the perfect fit for her career plans, although he is her ideal dance partner. Can Roxy accept that her best fit is on the dance floor moving to her own style and her cowboy's lead?

Tomato farmer by day and bootscootin' instructor by night Zayne McDonald doesn't give a damn about winning Nashville's heirloom tomato contest, even though his late father did. Zayne wants to honor his father, but what he really wants is to line dance his way to a winner's spotlight. When he and Roxy are discovered by a huge dance show producer, Zayne learns it's partnering with Roxy that's his winning hybrid mix. That is, if he can keep her and the tomato contest away from Beefsteak Jack Baudlin, the toughest tomato man in CMT country.

Ok but not much depth

Would you try another book from D. D. Scott and/or Christine Padovan?

Maybe but there are much better options

Would you recommend Bootscootin' Blahniks to your friends? Why or why not?

Probably not; predictable storyline; issues with mother resolved much too easily

How could the performance have been better?

Pronunciation; revelance for relevance; myaystro for maestro; sequence for sequins

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

If the music and dancing were good, maybe

BAD NARRATOR

Would you recommend Bootscootin' Blahniks to your friends? Why or why not?

Maybe if they prefer to read instead of listen.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

voices were the same on a lot of the characters - balance of the story was hard to follow due to the difference in trying to figure out if the character was yelling the statement or if the character was just making a silent statement.

Any additional comments?

I had the toughest time getting past the narrator. She was aweful. The story might have potential if I can get further, however I don't fell like that will happen unless there is a different narrator. Her voices for the characters were very squikee. Made it sound as one continues line. she would make here voice sound excited when it shouldn't have been and she was choppy when the statement was to bold

Don't bother

First off, the narrator of this book was terrible! She was flat, and one can barely tell between charachters who is saying what. Maybe the story would have been more riveting with a better narrator.
Speaking of the story, it was slow to develop. The characters weren't that interesting, and there didn't seem to be any real growth or change. I'm often irritated by the accelerated timeline between the main charachters meeting and the initiation of a sexual relationship, but this was the opposite. I'd prefer a sense of time passing between meeting and sex, but not all the minute details in between.
Perhaps my bible-thumping grandmother would have liked this, but I kind of doubt it. Even the Song of Solomon had great sex.

This narrator kills this story

What disappointed you about Bootscootin' Blahniks?

Poor D.D. Scott I could not get past the ignorant narrator. She could not pronounce even the most common word above a 3rd grade level and her pedantic performance is painful.

Would you be willing to try another book from D. D. Scott? Why or why not?

If she gets a different narrator

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Christine Padovan?

Amanda Ranconi

What character would you cut from Bootscootin' Blahniks?

Could not even get that far.

Any additional comments?

Mentally I did my best to hear a different person reading but could not get past it. It would probably be worth it to get this recoreded by someone else.

A trip to Nashville without leaving home

What did you love best about Bootscootin' Blahniks?

This book has it all ... romance, high fashion, adorable animals, feisty women, gorgeous guys, quirky characters, good food, great dancing. I loved reading all of D.D. Scott's books. Can't wait until I can "read" them again on Audible.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bootscootin' Blahniks?

When six feet, five inches of farm-buffed muscle stepped out of the driver's side of a white Silverado.

Have you listened to any of Christine Padovan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not, but I will be looking for more of her performances.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I absolutely fell in love with it ... and with its author.

Any additional comments?

I follow this author on Facebook as well. She has coffee with her fans every morning. And sometimes we do cocktails in the evening. She is generous with her advice to and support for other writers. Her collaborative publication "The Writer's Guide to ePublishing" is a vast resource for all things related to the subject.

AWESOME AUDIOBOOK!

If you could sum up Bootscootin' Blahniks in three words, what would they be?

Fabulous...Fun...Entertaining!

What other book might you compare Bootscootin' Blahniks to and why?

I really can't compare it to another book, as it truly has its own unique niche.

Have you listened to any of Christine Padovan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I would really enjoy listening to another one, as she has a great voice!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Who says you need boots to bootscoot?

Any additional comments?

The story was a great, fun read; the narrator was fantastic; can't wait for the second one in this fun series!

Bootscootin' BLAH!

First of all, I LOVED the story line and wanted to love the book, I just didn't. This is my favorite kind of genre, sadly the characters weren't very likeable. The story jumped around too much and seemed to get stuck in long-winded, flowery, descriptions that didn't add anything to the book.

I liked the tonal quality of the narrator, but didn't like her for this book. Her southern accents were terrible and many times it was hard to tell if the male or female character was speaking. The males sounded a bit girly and the females a little bit masculine for young women. She does have a pleasant voice and was good for the descriptive parts, but not great in the conversations.

I heard quite a few wrong words, not sure if it was editing or narration errors, but I found it distracting.

I'm sad to say this was one of the few audiobooks, I wasn't able to finish. There were some really great elements to the story and I loved the theme. Maybe an additional editing session could have merged the pieces into something better, but this wasn't it for me.
