Publisher's summary

When Diana of the cursed house Bellatrix loses her life, she is forced to admit to the king of the underworld that she had not become the hero she promised him.

He did not rage, nor smite her soul where she stood. The king’s only demand for resurrection was her attendance at Afterlife Academy, a rehabilitation center for failed heroes of history. A place where she can learn to control her destructive, bloodthirsty power. As she adapts to her new home, she unexpectedly encounters a godchild of Mars known as Calix. His soft smiles and carefree laughter fill her chest with a warmth she has never known.

One that will come to haunt her as she embarks on a journey to discover the truth of her cursed bloodline - the untold story of two people gripped by the warring hands of fate and love. One that proves the attraction she harbors toward Calix could have drastic consequences.

A new adult fantasy reminiscent of A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Mass and The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, Bound in Death explores true love and its limits.

Book 1 - The Chronicles of Minerva

Book 1 in Peyerk's The Chronicles of Minerva series. A wonderfully well written and narrated young adult paranormal / mythological influenced read. Captivating from the very beginning. Our main character Diana is as tough as they come but that doesn't mean she's not broken or can't be hurt. Torn in so many directions and feeling like a pawn in the gods games - how will she find her HEA and resolve the curse upon her and her family and fulfill the prophesy that falls on her shoulders?!? I adore Diana's banter, cocky and snarky but still so loveable in her imperfection and insecurity. Love the storyline and the narration is perfect. I am definitely looking forward to more from these characters!

Very enjoyable start of a series.

Well written and a great start to a series, building the world and setting the scene.

Jennifer Pickens’ narration is wonderful and fits the mood of the story very well

Bound in Death

okay, well this sucks. not the book that was great, what sucks was the fact that they found each other and could have been back together and happy but instead Diana chose to leave him , which I understand why but still that sucks. why do some loves story's have to be so complicated. love is supposed to be happy and good, not sadness and heartbreaking. 💔💔😥😢😭😭😭😭

Bound in Death

I am blown away by the details that have been written in this book. It’s crazy that it took Diana dying to change her way of living. (Wish we all got those choices!) I have some knowledge of Mythology but I’m not going to lie, I was looking up some of the characters to see if certain things were on point. I was fascinated by the story and the narration was exceptional. I did get a little bored about 2 hours towards the end of book (but honestly that could have been just my own mindset and nothing about book). I stopped listening for a day, then when I started listening again I was fine. I hope everyone enjoys the book as much as I did and look forward to ready the next in series.

Loved this story

A story of gods and their offspring, curses and battles, this story pulled me in quickly and didn't let me go. Listened straight through! If you enjoy kick ass heroines who know exactly who they are, you'll love this adventure. Intrigue, the mechanizations of gods and their delight in moving their children around like pieces on a chess board with past history woven together make this a wonderful story. The author has the wonderful gift of telling a well crafted story, that includes fantastic character development and world building. With a narrator bringing the imagery to life, you can't go wrong choosing this book. Enjoy!

Greco-Roman Inspired Story!!

This is an interesting take on Roman/Greek mythology. I loved the world the author created, she gave it great detail despite it taking place mostly in the Underworld.
Diana is such a great character!! Her journey from death to her "life" in the Underworld at the After-life Academy is endearing and entertaining, from the power hungry teachers to the more interesting (read attractive) students. The author does an excellent job making Di relatable and her uncovering her past was great character development! I loved Di's relationship with the god of Death and the god-children!! Plus the comment from Mars about a harem really makes me hope it pans out like that... Anyway, there is some romance in it, but there are no steamy scenes in this.
The ending is on the semi-cliffhanger side, but the next one is already out!!

I enjoyed the narrator a lot! She gave such depth to Diana and really brought her to life!!

Bound in Death by Kaylin Peyerk is a wonderful story that is well written. The overall story is done well, the characters are likeable and develop throghout the story, and the plot moves on at a good pace. I look forward to the next book. Audio Version: This is the first time I have listened to anything narrated by Jennifer Pickens and she does a good job with each character and the overall story.
