Publisher's summary

Establish wise and loving limits that make a positive difference in your teen, in the rest of your family, and in you.

The teen years: relationships, peer pressure, school, dating, character. To help teenagers grow into healthy adults, parents and youth workers need to teach them how to take responsibility for their behavior, their values, and their lives.

From best-selling author and counselor Dr. John Townsend, Boundaries with Teens is the expert insight and guidance you need to help your teens take responsibility for their actions, attitudes, and emotions and gain a deeper appreciation and respect both for you and for themselves.

With wisdom and empathy, Dr. Townsend applies biblically based principles for the challenging task of guiding your children through the teen years. Using the same principles he used to successfully raise two teens, he shows you how to:

  • Deal with disrespectful attitudes and impossible behavior in your teen
  • Set healthy limits and realistic consequences
  • Be loving and caring while establishing rules
  • Determine specific strategies to deal with problems both big and small

I highly enjoyed the examples of the real life stories that were given. Very true and very right on. I felt that the author was right there with me as I was with him.

Great book!

This book is a must for parents. As in anything, be open-minded and go for the wisdom you can get. Be a student, not a follower.

Hard to listen to the narrator sometimes.

The book is great! I learned a lot more than expected and I'm impressed with how many different topics or situations it touches. I would recommend to a friend or family member that's having struggles with their teen(s) or needs some proper direction. I must say though, if you have a pet peeve with hearing people chew gum or food, you won't be able to listen to it. He's a great narrator! But, he definitely had a piece of gum in his mouth and it was hard to stay focused on the story. If it wasn't for that, I'd give the performance 5 stars.

Exceptional book on teens

The various categories that teens deal with are discussed in this book. The parent's responsibility in their own spiritual and emotional development as they address their teens is discussed too.

A must resource for pre-teen parents!

Candidly, I found this book at times painful as I learned about the ways that I was lacking as a parent; however, that’s also precisely why I value this audiobook so much and feel a world of gratitude to Dr. John Townsend. Not only was the material interesting, the counsel is practical and invaluable. The only thing that would have made this audiobook better is if the audiobook chapters matched the chapters in the book. Since I listen while I drive, it will be very difficult to go back and find information as one audiobook chapter includes multiple chapters in the printed book. I am going to purchase a hard copy because I value this book so much. Jay Charles did a great job of narrating this book and kept me engaged.
