An encouraging book

The choice to use a female narrator was unique and spot on; excellent delivery of the message. The book itself was unique because of the empathy it displayed for teens and the difference in their journey compared to their parents. It was sound advice that honored our teens’ innate strengths and protected their long term well being. It has encouragement and good reminders for parents that feel overwhelmed by parenting teens in this new era of anxiety.

So true

This book made me cry so much… made me realize my own traumas growing up and the mistakes I’m making with my children repeating history again and again.

A MUST read for teenage boys

A really great read - even if you aren’t having “issues”, I found this book so informative. The techniques gave me “ah ha” moments as I listened. Will most definitely be rereading this again.
Read in the comments how there is a lot of mentioning of “she” rather than “they”…after reading than comment I did pick up on that? Found it a minor annoyance but did not take away AT ALL from the quality of information from this book!

Really cannot recommend it enough!!

A must for every parent, surprisingly pleased

I feel that this book is a must for every parent I almost didn’t purchase due to reviews and the narrators voice but the book had a lot of great information. Things that I even realized from my own childhood came to mind an absolute must read /listen.

Must Read!!

This is eye opening and extremely helpful for parenting teens. While it’s from 2019, it doesn’t has the Covid issues incorporated, it is still very relevant. As a parent of three very different children, the book explains the best approach for each type of kid.

Highly recommend!

What a powerful and relevant perspective on the life of a teenager today, and how we as their parents can guide and give as they move forward toward adulthood. There were times in part one that a sense of hopelessness came over me as the challenges kids face now seem so overwhelming and even unbearable. However, I also felt a great sense of empathy for my teenagers. Part 2 provides very practical ways to be better as a parent and support system while also providing the hard and necessary truth that it will require great effort on our part in relationship building or mending as some situations would have it. There is so much I’m missing in this review! Just read it! You won’t regret it ❤️

Real and relevant

Relevant to today’s teen. Helpful and practical wisdom. Good insight to emotional teen- parent healthy relationships. Will listen multiple times. Laughed out loud several times, especially when mentions sometimes we just don’t like them. Insight into their emotional needs and challenges and how to initiate persistent ongoing conversations.

The best book on parenting teens

Listening to this book was like hearing someone explain everything I've thought, tried and struggled with my daughter. The author clearly explains what parents are thinking and why they approach issues a certain way and how their kids interpret these actions. Without judgement and with great insight, the author gives lots of told and ideas as to how to repair a broken relationship. Excellent book!

Content good, narrator not so much

Really appreciated the advice. Great stuff, but probably would be better to read a hard copy to see the lists, etc.

The narration felt (tone, voice, style) felt patronizing. And you can't visit the chapters, just the 3 main parts. So to go back to something, it's a ton of work. And that's something u usually need to do in a self help book. Lazy on someone's part, but likely not the actual author's fault.
