About this listen

Distance sure as hell made his heart grow fonder...but it shattered hers into a million pieces.

Langley Vaughn knows she's never going to make the same mistake again.

Who falls head over heels in love in a week? Langley did, and she's regretted it every day since she handed her heart to a boy with too many secrets and too much baggage. Iker doesn't fit into Langley's world, and he made it clear he doesn't want to. He left before she even got a chance to try to change his mind. Langley's spent the last nine months healing her heart and making big plans for the future. Plans that absolutely don't include Iker...even though he's back, looking better than ever, and saying all the right things.

Iker Alvarez knows he made the biggest mistake of his life.

As soon as Iker walked away from Langley, claiming it was for her own good, he knew he screwed up. He left her so she wouldn't worry about him when he deployed, so she wouldn't waste her time waiting around for a guy who was never going to be good enough for her. Only, nine months and a deployment later, Iker still can't get Langley out of his head.

Contains mature themes.

Invested

Loved that the story was them. It didn’t take long or that it was short it was just right. Steamy. But great open back and forth with the truth and it didn’t have any hidden secrets to long.

3.5 stars overall!

So the book picks up 9 months after the first one, which makes you automatically think, whoa, is Langley pregnant? But no, that is just when she’s about to graduate and her step-sister who got married in the first one is pregnant. I found something that her father said to her in this one to stand out so much to me, when she told him about all that was going on with Iker and her confusion and feelings on the subject, he asked her if she wanted “an ear or advice”. After he listened to her. So he took the time to listen and waited to see if she wanted advice or had just needed to get things out and be listened to. So often people just assume when you’re telling them about something you want advice. And honestly, sometimes I just need someone to listen to me. To commiserate with me. I will ask if I want advice, and if I don’t, you giving it to me will just piss me off. Other than that, this one could probably have just all been part of one big book with the first one, Girl in Luv, but I get that it definitely had a defining separation point. The female narrator talks kind of slow or drags things out for me at times, but when I tried to speed her up, sometimes that was too fast. But still I like the way it ended and the characters were good!

Book 2

Storyline is Predictable, nice to have a series. Frustrated that nine months is not covered.

The second book did it justice! 👏🏼

4.7 stars✨

Iker came back for Langley, ahh my heart. *insert broken heart emoji*
And I do not blame her for pushing them apart.

No, my heart can't take this...
"I broke this, now I'm going to fix this." - Iker.
"You didn't break it, you destroyed it!" - Langley.
*insert sobbing emoji*

Sidenote: I also understand why Iker initially decided to leave, although Langley made a great point in saying she should have made the decision.

Another side note: the dad knew they were fake dating all along. I'm dead! *insert skull emoji*

Langley getting her dream job and moving to Austin. "I'm not sure where we go from here?" - Langley.

The line - 'It's almost like the universe wants to keep them apart.' *insert me sobbing emoji*

His willingness to make a long distance work for her, regardless of his previous feelings regarding relationships. *Not my heart feeling all giddy.

Side note: I love a man in uniform, I don't blame Langley. *Insert giddy emoji*

"This is the key to OUR house."
She kept the cufflinks - *insert sobbing emojis."

"I know we won't always wake up together, but I'll always wake up loving you!" - Langley *insert red heart eyes emoji*

"I breathe better when I'm with you." -Iker

Iker: I was someone's fiancé, and I'll soon be someone's father. (Ahh my heart cannot take this!)

Let's be honest we love happy endings! *insert love heart emojis*

"She was everything, and I was a boy in love!" - Iker.

Still cheesy goodness

Had I known years ago that writing a letter would feel and sound mushy and uncomfortably cheesy, I would not have done it. It's a good thing it was a long, long time ago it was completely buried and forgotten.

Anyway, on with this sequel. I think this gave a good closure to their love story. There wasn't much tension, no heavy conflict of that sort. It's just plain 'ol second chance romance. I wasn't really into it, but I can't say I do not like it either. The narration was more than okay as they really put enough emotion in it that I could practically feel their angst and longing in the parts with one. Fans of NA would really love this and I think if I read this one during my twenties, or even in my early thirties, I would have enjoyed this, too.

Good old cheesy romance

It was deliciously cheesy. I absolutely loved it. I do feel like this could’ve been just one big book and not two other ones. They drew it out too well.

Great second chance romance

Enjoyed this second chance romance, narrators made it enjoyable. Liked that the two main characters were from different backgrounds and Iker was persistent in getting his girl.

Sweetly Romantic

Narration is spot on in this book. As for the book content itself, it’s an interesting storyline with strong characters and a sweet story.

Who Doesn’t LOVE a Good Love Story

Book two just as great as book one ♥️ RY doesn’t disappoint with her love stories. Short, sweet and love the narrators. Who doesn’t love a great military love story.
