About this listen

The innocence of youth lost in war…

In the fiery siege of the city of Hope’s End the young mage Raistlin must leave behind his ideals to save himself and his brother. Yet as Raistlin and Caramon train as mercenaries, far away another soul is forged in the heat of battle. Another path is chosen, and a future dragon highlord begins her rise to power. She is Kitiara Uth Matar, the twins’ half sister.

I love these books and finally I run across one with a competent narrator. The first 11 books had horrible narration.

Finally Dragonlance gets a competent narrator.

Margaret Weis, has long been one of my favorites. Don't really have much experience with the work of Don Perrin but if I find any of his solo work I'll definitely check them out. Margaret Weis doesn't disappoint.

That said, I only give the narrator 3 stars. I frequently felt like I was sitting in on a reading for a group of preschoolers.

4 stars overall

I enjoyed this book. Loved seeing how the brothers went from children in the soul forged book into young adults refining there trades in this book. The narration was wonderful. I highly recommend this book.

This is a solid story, but for me it didn’t have the same hold on me. Don’t get me wrong, this is an excellent story with pretty good narration (for DragonLance). I did enjoy it.

A good listen.

This second part of the duo started with Soulforge is a good journey towards the story presented in Chronicles.
This book is not as well paced as Soulforge but still tells a good story. Veterans of the Lance will find many Easter eggs that keeps this book interesting.
The narrator is decent although the voices of characters are not as good as some narrators. However, much better than other narrators of many of the Dragonlance novels.

Good set up for Chronicles

The narrator is excellent. His voicing of Raistlin and Caramon is spot on. The story is also a really decent one. It fleshes out Kitiara and the brothers in a tale of ambitious ascent. The new characters introduced are both interesting and again narrated well. Highly recommend.

A particularly good narrator and story!
