About this listen

I protect what’s mine. The ranch, my family, our buried secrets.

Nothing will stop me from reassembling the life that went terribly wrong. Not the law. Not our enemies. Not even Maybe Quinn.

The gorgeous, quarrelsome journalist shouldn’t have meddled. I shouldn’t have let her stay. But she’s hiding something in those deceptive blue eyes. Something deeper than her thirst for a news story.

I make a deal with her to buy time. To unravel her lies. To play with her. To satisfy my darker appetites. When she buckles beneath my belt, I’ll send her away.

Unless I buckle first.

New, Real and Raw

Started this series and fell in love with the first book. Waited til I had a credit to purchase this book. It did not disappoint. If you can look past the narrators mildly obnoxious voice and enjoy the words and scenes then you will love this book just as much as the first. Being from Oklahoma, I can appreciate the realism that Pam Godwin has created in the scenes. Can’t wait to read book 3.

I am in love!

Jarret is so dreamy. He is such a perfect man. Hot, fierce, honorable, protective, hard working, smart....did I say hot?! I liked Maybe too, but was ready to slap her silly toward the end. Loved both narrators and cannot wait for the next book!

Book 2 of the Trails of Sin series

3.75 rounded up on this one...

I LOVE me some Pam Godwin DARK romance stuff, but this one fell just a little flat for me. I loved the chemistry between Jarret and Maybe, but she greatly grated on my nerves. I felt he deserved better than how she treated him, especially at the end.

I DID enjoy seeing Connor and Jake, and the lead-up to Lorne and Raina is already set to be awesome!

Book one was deep into the darkest steamy smut of this series so far. This one focused more on the intense emotional bond between the family and Maybe. I'll of course finish this series out and will devour any Pam Godwin book that comes out. They are all a "buy on release" for me, without question.

The narration was not my favorite in this one. Jarret's voice sounded way off of what I thought it should, and honestly I'm not the biggest fan of this narrator at all.

Feral, consuming, and a pleasure for my ears!

Pam Godwin's writing is.. well.. god-like! I started listening to this book and just like the first, I was hooked. I loved the way Jarrett and Jake were so similar yet so different. I love how these men are unrelenting in their love and passion for the women they hold dear. And I love the women that stand by them. Now what is there to say about Maybe.... first of all, that name just makes me think of Arrested Development because it's such an odd name but it somehow fit this spitfire of a woman with both the stubbornness of a mule and the deep, complex tangles of her heart that were torn with indecision over the course of the novel. She was a lovely character and perfect for Jarrett in every way. This book dials down some of the pain from the first and ramps up the sexual tension and kinky sex, which is just fine by me! Jarrett's kind of play is my heaven to hear and it made for a book with both lust that was entrancing to listen to and a story line that had me biting my nails waiting to see what would happen next, when the next axe would drop, when the next confession would come spilling out, and when the next heart-crushing pain of loss would give way to healing and a deep sense of belonging, passion, and peace. Maybe never gave herself enough credit, never recognized the depth of her own strength and the fact that it's okay to not hold the world up on your shoulders alone, so seeing her transform into a woman able to forgive and love herself and the people around her with such pure admiration made my heart smile. Her trials with Jarrett were beautiful and painful to behold, their love just as deep and consuming as in the first book and I can't wait to hear Lorne's story and finally see this indescribably damaged yet remarkably strong group of people stand tall as one again, FINALLY! I can't wait for them to have their happy endings and mark the end of their dark, painful history with the beginnings of a life filled with love and laughter. These characters have grown on me to such an extent that I actually care for them and how their lives within these books turn out. Pam's writing is so resplendent that transcends the pages of a book or the voice of a narrator and breathes life into these characters as if they have their own souls and lives to live. I am simply awed by her talent as a writer and the way she has drawn me into this series so wholly. If I could have, I would have listened to all three books in one sitting, I was that enraptured in the grip of the story. The narration was just as good as in the first book, and I respect as well as admire the care taken to choose the right narrators for these stories. They picked perfectly. It is a tiny tiny bit strange for me since the male narrator in this book (he seems to be going by another name here for some reason) sounded familiar with the way his voice crested during the emotional bits and then I knew it was someone I'd heard before. The reason I recognized his voice is because it sort of reminds me of my father's intonations and speech patterns at certain points (a native Texan living in NY, no less, so the slight southern accent made it even more similar in this novel in particular) so that was a tiny bit weird for me but I quickly got over it. Anyway, if you thought the first book was too heavy for you and you couldn't bear to listen to another novel with such heavy themes and crushing pain, this one was a bit lighter on those things. These characters were much more exploratory and adventurous in their lust, with kink and pleasure and pain galore that they gloried in together. It was some much needed relief from the way the first book hurt my soul to hear during some parts and these two needed each other in a new and unique way. They are feral in their love for one another, obsessed in a different way. It's hard to describe really, but damn was it ever HOT! This was easily worth 2 credits, so I'm happy to spend one on it and shower it in praise because this series is quickly flying to the top of my favorite series list. Oh and by the way, did I add I'm not really into cowboys? I stayed away from this series until now for that very reason and good god am I glad I let that preconceived notion go and listen anyway because I have a whole new appreciation for a man that works with his hands.

It was ok

Didn't love it but don't hate it either. Maybe was too winey and weak for me. The narrator's did not do it for me perhaps its why I did not love this one.

Buckle UP

This is the second book in the series, and admittedly, I loved the first book more. But that has nothing to do with the performance of this audiobook, because the narrators were great! I just didn't really like the female lead character in this one. Can't really explain why, that's a me problem.

But the story and the spice is still great overall.

Way better than I was expecting!

I was saw a different review taking bad about the voices. I see what she means but the more you get into the story, you don't really notice that kind of thing. I thought it was fantastic and I cannot wait for the next!

Buckled

Wow, listening to this book is wonderful. The title is written all over this book. Buckled is love, understanding, given letting go and most of all its conquering your fears. As for the characters they are united as one. Most of all I couldn’t have enjoyed this book if it wasn’t for the narrators.
