About this listen

Bennett Sharp is on the run. Wanted for piracy, she fears neither God nor death nor man. Except Priest Farrell.

The unfaithful, stormy-eyed libertine hunts her with terrifying possessiveness. Nothing will stop him from coming for her. Not his unforgivable betrayal. Not when she’s captured by the ice-cold pirate hunter Lord Ashley Cutler.

She must escape Ashley’s prison and Priest’s deceit. But can she walk away from their twisted desires?

Two gorgeous captains stand on opposite sides of the law. When they collide in a battle to protect her, the lines blur between enemies and lovers.

Passion heats, secrets unravel, and hearts entangle until they break.

Can love prevail in the sea of ruin?

Tense, romantic, erotic and a lot of violence

Prepare for violence and torture.
This is no spoiler, but just something I think you should be aware of before buying.
There were a couple of instances in the second half of the book that went too far for me.
I’m not sure this level of cruelty was necessary to tell this story.

With that out of the way, I also experienced this story as romantic, tense and erotic.
I really liked the main character and felt invested in her. I always prefer a first person narrative, so that is a big plus for me in this story.
Bennet is such an awesome bass-ass woman (though I do wish she had a bit more opportunity to show it)
The romance was excellently done, I felt it.
The sex scenes were also great. I have to mention the narration here. Sex scenes can be a bit cringey/ awkward sometimes, but here it was very sexy, well done!
You’ll not be pulled out of the story with fake sounding sighs of pleasure.
The narration as a whole was wonderful. Great pacing, character distinction and convening of emotions.

I would recommend this audio-book with the caveat that you have to be able to stomach torture, be open minded and able to enjoy dark romance.

Love

I’m not usually into historical romances but this didn’t feel like one at all. I loved everything about it. Definitely worth the hype and the coin!

So good!

This book is amazing. The spice is fantastic and the story is even better. They are pirates and there is no sugar coating that. Vicious and full of heart. I already ordered the novella and another stand alone book from the authors website. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

4.5⭐️

Soooo this was my first pirates book and I gotta say I enjoyed it more than I thought since it is also a historical romance and those are a hit or miss for me lol

Priest had me so annoyed in the beginning but by the end I could feel my heart warming up to him 👀❤️ I know my gals from book club are probably going to be sick of me considering I complained so much about him as I was reading this book just to end up loving him in the end 😗🫶🏼

ASHLEY freaking Cutler had me from the moment he was introduced even if he was very much an a$$ 🤣💀 some might say I am a masochist buuut I don’t quite mind it if it’s a pirate hunter named Ashley giving the punishment 🔥🔥🔥

As for Bennet Sharp! She was strong and brave and definitely one of my favorite FMCs 🥰❤️ also I wish I was her haha cause she’s one lucky captain!

As for the audiobook itself… I LOVED THE QUALITY it was so easy to love haha. I listen to audiobooks a lot and this one has definitely been one of my favorite ones. I can’t wait to listen to it again while following along with my physical copy!

• Why choose
• Captor and captive 🔥🥵
• Pirates 🏴‍☠️🔥

Sheer Perfection—Despite My Own Typical Preferences!

Pam Godwin never disappoints. This is such an enthrallingly emotional and satisfying adventure story! I love that it’s long, but never tarries. It’s very well written—even better than Godwin’s previous ones. It moves along at a delicious pace, and Pam Godwin never fails to deliver fierce cruelty equaled only by the passion she so expertly conveys. She writes experiences with engulfing world development and deep, lovable characters. This may be one of the best written books she’s ever given us. I so rarely give 5 star reviews. Here’s where the SERIOUS SPOILERS—REALLY, if you plan to read/listen to the book—do not read the remainder of my review!

Caveat:
I am not a fan of thrupples/ménages/MMF relationships in romance. This is the exception. I enjoyed this story despite the three-some. It was actually a wonderful climactic resolution, and despite my dislike of any relationship made up of more than 2 people, and especially M/M, which is definitely not my cuppa, this was a superb story, and the way it was written, structurally, was perfection.

NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!

***Warning***
If you're sensitive to violence, rape, abuse, torture, manipulation, the deepest grief and longing.... as well as wicked sexual plays, do not enter!

This story has a badass pirate heroine who saw her own pirate father hang and her mother jumping out from a cliff because of her grief - just shortly after Bennett herself gutted a 40 year old man who tried to rape her. At that time she is just 14 years old.

That's how the story of Bennett Sharp, female pirate Captain in the Westindia Seas in the 1800s. Slavery and pirating is at the top of any seaman's career, and in all that, she meets her husband Priest whom has betrayed her and loves another.

Bennett runs from him,and 2 years later, runs into him again. But this time she is his captor, and she cannot forgive him.
That's when things get interesting, because Bennett parts ways with her crew to make a ruse for the English Navy ship and its captain, Ashley Cutler.

First enemies, then lovers. Trying to escape, but suddenly falling in love? What to do?
Before she has a plan she is taken on to another ship and being abused so horribly that I had trouble not living and breathing beside her.

From one captor to another, from one abuser to another - until it all ends in happy ever after - but in a different way that I was used to.

This story packs a punch. 15 hours of gruesome violence, heartbreaking and heartwrenching love, longing, rejection, the fulfillment of the ultimate love story. An unexpected twist, secrets revealed and a bounty hunt.
I honestly don't know what else you could want from a story about pirates, love and the seven seas.

Plus - the narrator is simply amazing. She is worth your credit!

OMG

Let me start by saying, if you have triggers, then this isn't the book for you. This book is full of abusive situations, rapes, belittling and humiliation....but it was a great read.

The ending MFM relationship that develops, I thought it was beautifully executed. I just wish we saw more of it.
