About this listen

It’s a local legend. No one is sure if this “Camp Slaughter” place is real or not. But a group of college kids renting out a cabin deep in the woods of Pennsylvania will soon realize the truth. They’ll realize the danger, too. Or rather, the cannibal out in the woods will bring the danger to them...

This kept me interested til the very end. And wanting more when it did.
I look forward to a follow up.

Damn good book for the horror fan

men narrating womens voices is still slightly distracting/offputting to me but this was well done enough to still be an enjoyable listen

such a creepy cool story

Overall a satisfying story from beginning to end. I might have missed a detail about Ignacio, but even if he was slow I think he would have been able to say spanish words and phrases with that pronunciation since it seemed like his parents spoke English with a Spanish accent, which to me feels like they likely mostly spoke Spanish to Ignacio when they were alone. I got pulled out of his narrative when Frazier said things like tonto or mama.

Good! Kept my attention. Good character development and had no idea what direction it would turn

Scary

pros:
decent story
some good, believable character development
a fun killer point of view (he'll probably be on both list)
kills are detailed and numerous
cons:
some superfluous characters (film makers, Barbie 1 being the most egregious)
some characters not being clearly introduced
odd supernatural elements that don't play in much or aren't fleshed out (superhearing!)
the killer borders on love letter to slasher classics and derivative until the scenes from his POV.

Slasher goodness

Really wanted to like it but felt the story was a little over the place. As a first-gen Mexican-American, I felt compelled to finish it pa’ la raza lol but the story needed to be fleshed out more.

It was entertaining. I would like to see a film version made. It was a fun time!

I enjoyed the story, characters and the performance of the narrator but I found the pacing of the book to be slightly annoying. With all the different points of view, especially towards the last bit. it was like he tried to leave every view on a cliff hanger and then switch to a different point of view. It picked up quickly enough for it to only be a slight irritation. otherwise, I enjoyed the story!

If you like 80's slasher movies you will love this, it starts out swinging right from the beginning.
