About this listen

"The book reads like the work of a mad scientist who wants nothing more than to show the world why he loves B-movie horror." (Damien Casey, author of Coffin Dodgers, Pup and Hot Pink Satanism)

"Fast paced with an compelling plot, violent scenes of gore that were played off to be amusing and extremely colorful. Three words I can use to sum up this tale: comedic, brutal and thrilling!" (H. Everend, author of Cursed Legacy and The Summoning)

The book you are about to listen to is an account of the tragedy that occurred at the reopening of Bonkin's Bonanza one day in the summer of 1989. Some came looking for fun, like Candy Barton and her best friend, Leigh.

Others, like Rocky Rhodes and Sully Sullivan, came looking for a second chance. Instead, they would find a twisted, funfetti nightmare.

For many of the thrill-seekers and families visiting Bonkin's Bonanza, that day would be their last. And the events that unfolded would go on to become infamously known as The Cotton Candy Massacre.

Great story and the characters are relatable so you really become attached to them and it’s sad when they meet their demise. Very unique story telling and love all the fascinating ways of killing! People who love gore, clowns, and circuses will love this book!

Circus from hell!

For me this book suffers a lot from the narrator. Their monotone "Narrator" voice takes out all of the tension from the story. Though their character voices are amazing. The story was just too much teen drama for me. The horror doesn't start until over 5 hours in and by that time I wanted all of the main characters to be gone.

This one did not live up to the hype

Woooo... I've always been scared of clowns, but this made me dislike them even more! I really enjoyed how the book is written out like a movie! I have never seen this done before! It's really enjoyable and you really grow to love the characters.

Made me dislike clowns even more

This was incredible. Everything from the humor to the gore to the romance to the character building, pure human depravity, and sheer entertainment factor was fantastic.
The talented narrator did a great job bringing each character, scene and individual story line to life.
Would 100% recommend to anyone who is up to gag, laugh, cry, and get good song recommendations all from the same book.
Whatever the auditory version of un-put-downable is called, is what the Cotton Candy Massacre is.

I am Speechless and in awe- 6/5 stars!

It was a good book overall but most parts of the book are just cringy. The way they describe candys size comes off inappropriate and kinda pedoish. Like her name isn’t said without it mentioning how tiny and childlike she is , honestly disgusting at times. And very unnecessary. But ig if u can overlook that it’s a cool story

Was a fun idea

Ok this book is gross! I mean it's good but way gross! like GROSS- Anyways, I went in thinking it was gonna be like "Clown in a Cornfield" like YA horror. Yeah, no it's the opposite of that. This is not for kids I'm not even sure I'm old enough to read this LOL, and I'm 40. There's a decent plot in all the carnage too so that helps. Just know what you are getting into.

Splatterpunk

i cannot stand the narrators voice, she sounds like an ai generated voice. This isnt a bad book, but she ruined it for me.

The horrible narrator

Very macabre but the descriptions are perfect. I could close my eyes and imagine as if it was a movie. The narrator’s inflections portray all of the characters and emotions perfectly

Fun story

I didn’t like the narrator but the story was fun and held my interest. It was like an 80s b movie
