About this listen
In the thrilling first crime novel from former FBI director James Comey, a murder investigation reveals deadly connections between high-ranking politicians and the mafia
When a years-long case against a powerful mobster finally cracks and an unimpeachable witness takes the stand, federal prosecutor Nora Carleton is looking forward to putting the defendant away for good. The mobster, though, has other plans. As the witness's testimony concludes, a note is passed to the prosecution offering up information into the assassination of a disgraced former New York governor, murdered in his penthouse apartment just days before. It's enough to blow the case wide open, and to send Nora into a high-stakes investigation of conspiracy, corruption, and danger.
Drawing from the author's decades in federal law enforcement, including his years in Manhattan as a mob prosecutor and later the chief federal prosecutor, Central Park West is a fast-paced legal thriller with an intriguing plot enriched by real-life details and experiences. That unique perspective gives the novel much of its allure, but it's the unforgettable characters, shocking twists, and courtroom scenes as authentic as they are dramatic that will leave listeners looking forward to more from this bold new talent in the genre.

Story
Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

James Comey might best be known as the FBI director that Donald Trump fired in 2017, but he’s had a long, varied career in the law and justice system. He knows better than most just what a force for good the US justice system can be - and how far afield it has strayed during the Trump presidency. In his much-anticipated follow-up to A Higher Loyalty, Comey uses anecdotes and lessons from his career to show how the federal justice system works.

Story
Donald Trump will be president again, whether he is on the ballot or not. That is because Trumpism is overtaking the Republican Party and will mount a vigorous comeback, potentially in the hands of a savvier successor. This prophecy will come true, according to Miles Taylor, if we do not learn the lessons of the recent past. With the 2024 election approaching, the formerly “Anonymous” official is back with bombshell revelations and a sobering national forecast. Taylor predicts what could happen inside “Trump 2.0,” the White House of a more competent and more formidable copycat.

He knows better than most just what a force for good the US justice system can be - and how far afield it has strayed during the Trump presidency. In his much-anticipated follow-up to A Higher Loyalty, Comey uses anecdotes and lessons from his career to show how the federal justice system works.

Loved this book! Very entertaining!!
A message to James Comey,
After reading “A Higher Loyalty Truth, Lies, and Leadership”, I was compelled to immediately read this book, “Central Park West” to explore your first venture into the realm of fiction. When I finished the first book, I promised myself I was going to read it a second time, which I may do very soon. However, I was curious to read your first attempt at fiction. As an author myself of historical fiction and suspense thrillers, I have to say to you, Sir, Well done! I loved the book!
I will be reading any other books you write as well!
Sincerely,
Thomas J. Feely

For a first novel this was very, very well done. The narrator was particularly good at all the different characters. The story was a little slow to launch, but once it got going kept my attention and had many twist, turns, and developments.

Planning Is Everything
Got this on sale and on recommendation from reviewer,Shelly. I have one other book of Cassandra Campbell’s reads and she is good and has improved quite a bit. This author is not for me as he is a bit too wordy, and I thought the story could have been told maybe an hour or two less but that’s my own personal opinion. Good storyline no doubt about it. There are authors that the mystery unfolding is the joy of the journey, however I did not find that in this story. Hence, maybe the editing? This story Could’ve been tightened up. I love the four team member characters, especially our top investigator. He was old-fashioned and great!!! If Book 2 comes out, I will evaluate the reviews to see the consensus of the authors growth.
Where my comments of help?

Needed male reader for male parts.
Big ask to have female reader do ALL the female characters and then take on ALL the male roles as well. A welll p.aced believable novel

Surprised me
it's surprised me as the author took us in situations where I would try to guess the path and he chose another. I love the ending because I didn't see it coming. it made me feel like perhaps we needed to "close" it. On the other hand in real life this could certainly be what happens.. I listen for 2 days and loved it., I will be reading your previous books
Thank you!
