About this listen

After defeating the Warlord of the Turan Khar, Rylan Lauchlin has assumed his place...and his troubles.

Deprived of the ancient magic that allowed the Khar Unity to exist in harmony, their society is slowly dying, and it is now up to Rylan to save it. But only one man has the knowledge to release the magic of the Core - the same man who locked it away in the first place - and that man is imprisoned within Rylan himself.

On the other side of the world, the rulers of the Kingdoms have taken advantage of the devastation of Karikesh to mount a counterinvasion. Gil and Ashra find themselves pressed to protect the people of Malikar from a genocidal campaign aimed at driving them back into the Black Lands.

Great Book-Unpredictable End 😢

This book absolutely keeps you riveted. The character’s anguish was experienced literally throughout the book The story kept you wanting to see what was going to happen. The end caught me off guard. This is not the type of book that I would look to as an uplifting, feel good book. You can’t argue that it is well written and with John Banks as the narrator, it brought you to a high level of anxiety and stress.

Was hopeful; was disappointed

Not a terrible book. Felt like after all the setup in the last book, this could be epic. It wasn’t. Huge development at the end of the book, but it is not enough to convince me to read the next book.

Disappointing

I was so excited to move on to the 2nd book, The story of this Supposedly unique and most powerful mage with potentially unlimitless power Got me ready to expect battles and descriptions of how he Powerful he was. I was Disappointed as the story went on not only about the main character Rylan, but with with the character Archer as well. The story built both of these characters up to be very powerful Especially with their artifacts. But as the story went on They seemed more and more regular and just like every other character, In fact It left you feeling as though there power Was barely above the next person's. I do understand their limitations, but the way these characters were built up and how they could use their magic Led you to believe that they were almost invincible. So as the story went on I got more and more bored. The details about the characters and the places were beautiful, Just the built up of their skill though was disappointing. I'm kind of glad there is no 3rd book, For me the story ends here.
