About this listen

A bond with a dragon turns a high school student into Queen of the Fae…

When a dragon crashes through a portal near her Texas high school, Ophelia can hardly believe her eyes. Dragons and magic just exist in fairy tales, right?

But the moment she bonds with the dying monarch dragon named Sun in the Black Sky, Ophelia discovers they are very real…and very deadly. Before she can make sense of what’s happening, Ophelia is dragged into the magical and treacherous realm of Charassi. A world where her dragon bond marks her as Queen of the Fae.

Grappling with her newfound extraordinary powers, Ophelia will need all the help she can get to defend her throne and protect her bonded dragon. With the Fae Prince Corrin by her side, they embark on a perilous quest to seek the help of the dragons, only to encounter a shocking revelation that unveils a nefarious curse.

Deadly secrets lurk in the shadowy corners of her realm: walking corpses, dark magic, and a puppet master determined to seize power once and for all.

To harness her true power, Ophelia must find the strength within to become the leader her people need. And if she fails, her kingdom and all those she loves, shall fall…

Explore a world of dragons, magic, intrigue, and the enduring power of love in this complete fantasy collection featuring all six books of the exciting Fae Queen series: The Bone Crown, The Usurper’s Throne, The Stolen Palace, The Dragon King’s Egg, Heart of Realms, and The Ancestral Forces.

Fantastic Fantasy

I would give this audiobook box set even more stars, if I could. Ava Richardson is a masterful fantasy writer. The way she weaves her plots and characters together is nothing short of magical. She had my attention from the very first page of the first book in this series. Even though I truly hated for Corin and Ophelia's story to end (first due to Ms. Richardson's excellent storyline, and second, because of Mago Weston's creative narration), the sweet ending was perfect and endearing. A truly remarkable fantasy box set! I may invest in the print set as well.

Charassi'Fae Queen

Texas high school student Ophelia Monroe gets in trouble because she cannot help standing up against bullies. This fantasy boxed set is well written and the fantasy world Ophelia goes to is a very interesting world. The characters are delightful, the storyline interesting. The story is fast-passed and held my attention through all 6 books. After listening to the first book, I was ready to binge listen to all 55 hours this surprisingly interesting series. There are two story lines 3 books each in this boxset both are worth reading/listening to.
This is my introduction to Ava Richardson and I was very impressed with her writing.
Included are all six books of the exciting Fae Queen series:
The Bone Crown,
The Usurper’s Throne,
The Stolen Palace,
The Dragon King’s Egg,
Heart of Realms,
The Ancestral Forces.
The audiobook is narrated by Mago Weston who does a wonderful job of narrating the story. I enjoyed that I could listen to the audiobook while cleaning it made the work seam to go by faster.

amazing

Charassi’s Fae Queen by Ava Richardson is an epic, 55-hour fantasy journey that completely pulled me in. Dragons, fae, magic—this audiobook has everything I love in a long, immersive listen. Ophelia’s transformation from a regular high school student to a powerful queen is gripping, and her bond with Sun in the Black Sky is both emotional and awe-inspiring.

The world-building is rich, with dark magic, curses, and a realm full of danger and intrigue. The narration kept me engaged the whole time, making the action and emotions hit even harder. If you’re looking for a fantasy adventure packed with dragons and high stakes, this one is absolutely worth the time!

I had already listened to these books before and thought they were great. If you would like to read my individual write up on them please go to the books individually. You will love the suspense, action and so much more.

Great Listen

I enjoyed the series, even though it was a little too mushy and everything was always perfect between the characters for me.

binge

book 1: I enjoyed listening to this first in series. This author sure knows how to write a series that is good for all ages.
book 2: the former queen, Emalda. steals the bone crown in the mist of Ophelia and Prince Corrin trying to prove that Ophelia is the true high queen and bring so kind of peace to Charassi.
book 3: this author is one of my go to and I love the worlds she creates that any age would enjoy. The narrator does an excellent job bringing this series to life. It is a must read and/or listen.
book 4: sunny's egg is stolen. A must read series.
book 5: Ophelia and sunny go to get answers and save starstriker while Corrin and river are left trying to save the kingdom from a new threat.
book 6: this series is an absolute must read and/or listen. The narration just brings the story to life and makes you feel right there.

Blew me away

Absolutely outstanding read. You get all 6 books. Bone Crown, Usurper's Throne, Stolen Palace, Dragon king's egg, Heart of Realms and Ancestral Forces. Each book kept getting better and better and I could not stop listening which helped because I'm in the middle of moving. I love Ava's imagination and storytelling and highly recommend the books.

this fell flat

Good narration is key.
My disconnect began with the mispronounced main character names...Ophelia is pronounced "ow FEELyuh" not "ow FELLyuh". Corrin pronounced "CORR in" would have been masculine..."corr IN" is a feminine name.

The males sound like prepubescent boys.

Add to that the incorrect words... here are a few examples of the 100+ album scratching mistakes throughout this series:
"Abdominal Snowman" (Abominable Snowman)
"He could not resist the INEXPLORABLE pull of the portal" (inexhorable)
"He gave her a Wayne smile" (wan)
"She sat up, her hair MUSED" (mussed)

This completely disrupted the suspension of reality for me, as I rewound on each one, to ensure I had heard what I had heard. There were a lot.

As to the story, this was the longest NO BURN, most chaste romance I've listened to, to date. He proposed in the last 30 minutes.
She turned 18 mid series. They spent 55 hours enjoying kissing occasionally between battling evils, sleeping in separate chambers, and interacting in a sugary mutual admiration fashion. The relationship never developed depth of feeling.
The premise of this series had a lot of potential, but never reached it. It ended up 2 dimensional.

I had to rewind many chapters, because I zoned out as it played. I forced myself to finish, because I purchased it. The struggle was real.

This felt like an early endeavor of this author. I have no idea if it was.
I would categorize this series appropriate for young adults, except some of the battle scenes could be considered disturbing. There are hostage, torture, forcible overtaking of individual will, and magic that creates zombies.
