About this listen

Sexy firefighter Logan Bailey is an expert at putting the wet stuff on the hot stuff - on and off duty. But he just did the unthinkable, and it wasn’t trading in his tube socks. He slept with his nemesis. His mortal enemy. The crazy redhead he loves to hate. Cara Goulding.

And no matter how much he wants to lie to himself, he has to admit, it was mind-blowing.

Cara will not be tempted by the one night she spent with prince dickhead - even if her traitorous body remembers every earth-shattering moment. It was a mistake and she’s stronger than that. She’ll just keep avoiding him and pretend it didn’t happen.

But the feuding small town of Tilikum might not be big enough for the both of them. Avoiding each other isn’t working. And with every moment they’re forced to spend together, the sparks get hotter, the flames grow brighter, and the tension borders on unbearable.

Until they both reach their breaking point and their fiery relationship explodes.

Author’s note: a sexy firefighter and the sassy redhead who drives him crazy. All the banter, delicious tension, a heartwarming family, and Kindle-melting steam. Enemies to lovers is as hot as it gets and these two are fire.

A fabulous audiobook!

Claire Kingsley has outdone herself. Each book in the Bailey Brothers series has been an amazing read, and Chasing Her Fire is among my favorite books this year.

Enemies to Lovers is one of my favorite tropes when done right. Cara and Logan have been arguing and snarking at each other through three books as secondary characters and I was excited to find out they would be the couple in this book. There was always something there between them and after one night together Cara finds out she's pregnant. The development of their relationship was so well done. I loved how Logan stepped up, how Cara really grew as the story progessed, and how they supported and cared for each other.

The plot was nicely paced with conflicts and concerns that felt realistic. I loved, too, getting lots of Bailey Brothers and Gran time. They add a lot of humor and fun to the story.

There are some interesting developments regarding the series overarching storylines, and I can't wait to see how it's resolved in the final book.

The narration is excellent! Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite audiobook narrators and he was the perfect choice for Logan. Virginia Rose was great as Cara, too!

Brotastic!

Logan and Cara always loved to hate each other and one drunken night will change everything!
“A trickster you might be, but you’ll fly to the ends of the earth to take care of those you love”. -Gram
Circumstances will force Cara and Logan to re-evaluate their antagonistic relationship, and we’ll see Logan step up to be the stand-up guy Gram brought him up to be, and we’ll learn about the sources of Cara’s vulnerabilities, that tend to show up as her false bravado.
As always, we get to catch up with our favorite Tilikum residents, ponder on the mystery of Eliza Bailey and the roots of the Haven vs Bailey feud, and share in some exciting happenings in the Bailey clan.
Catching her Fire is captivating, read in one sitting kinda story, it will have you on the edge of your seat with the perfect combination of swoon, witty banter, love and THE HEAT!
A definite must read for all romance enthusiasts!

Enemies to lovers with the perfect narration casting!

The book is what I’ve been waiting for after seeing the tension of these 2 enemies since Fighting For Us! Cara Goulding was Grace’s best friend from that book and has been in each l book since then in some capacity. As long as we’ve known Cara, her and Logan Bailey have had a known hatred for each other and are always bickering or fighting. But then things happen that makes Logan say this, “She’d gone from the woman I loved to hate to the most important person on the planet.” I don’t want to give away all the spoilers so I will leave it at that! It’s a fantastic storyline that had me falling in love with Cara and Logan!

I love the ongoing town love story/mystery still going on in the background of the overall plot! It makes me want to keep reading right into the next book! It can be frustrating as it’s still not solved but so satisfying at the same time as it gets closer and closer as each brother gets further into the mystery!

Teddy Hamilton & Virginia Rose. As always, the casting for the Bailey brothers is so good! Teddy was perfect for Logan! And I absolutely loved Virginia as Rose! Her voice was exactly what was needed for Cara’s personality that we’ve grown to love throughout the series! A perfect sassy tone to it!

So much more than I expected

Logan was not at all what I expected. Nor was Cara. Logan had such a deep sense of responsibility and owning his actions that I didn’t see coming in the goofball prankster. His protectiveness over Cara from the day they met was heart warming. No wonder Gram, and for that matter Grace, knew from the beginning. Cara…she’s more like an onion. Soooo many layers that have to be peeled back to get down to the heart of the amazing angle of a friend she is. She’s been through so much in her life, the Bailey’s welcoming her with open arms was just absolutely magical to her. Logan was the calm to her Cat5 hurricane of a storm. His patience with her and desire to understand were hands down goals

I Love Cara and Logan..

but I found some things a bit repetitive as I listened to the story. Whoever edited the audio did not do a great job. Teddy's pick-ups and corrections were blatant and obvious, to the point where it distracted from the book.

Logan and Cara - a beautifully perfect enemies to lovers story

In my opinion, for an enemies to lovers trope to work well, the author has to find a balance between animosity between the main characters without tipping into meanness or abuse. Kingsley finds the perfect sweet spot in this book. The book has a little bit of everything - sweet, fan your face sexy, hilarity, a continuing mystery, a long standing feud, and a little bit of danger. And Teddy Hamilton and Virginia Rose add dimension to this wonderful story with their narration. Logan and Cara’s love story has all the feels. Cara has been best friends with the wife of Logan’s brother for a decade but despite being thrown together for years, they have never gotten along. We saw the animosity between them in the previous books but it was a minor subplot. In this story we get to see their relationship in all its snarky, volatile, hissing, angry technicolor glory. A drunken one night stand between Logan and Cara results in an unexpected pregnancy. Forced proximity is the starting framework for their HEA. As they struggle to navigate an unexpected pregnancy, Logan and Cara have to change their patterns and Cara in particular has to let go of the hurt and her past in order to trust Logan and embrace a life they thought was not possible for them. Like the first four books in this series, Chasing Her Fire includes a number of secondary characters, some but rather than being overwhelming or detracting from the main love story, these characters are central to the main love story and to the heart of what makes small town Tilikum so wonderful and so hilarious. I am excited to hear what happens next for the Bailey brothers and rest of the town and to see the solution to the mystery.

Good series

The books in this series have been changed so they are (1-5) cliffhangers. Each story about a different one of the five brothers ended with the only continuing theme being the Montgomery treasure and the Bailey brothers / Haven brothers rivalry. The reorganization /rewrites have the conclusions/resolutions happening in book 6. I know there is motive to make as much of a successful series as possible, and this is a familiar go to move among the audible writers I'm familiar with. It's just more palatable to not feel manipulated by whoever decides to do rewrites/reorganization of known/already enjoyed books, no matter how common the practice is becoming. It also seemed that the sex parts were made more graphic/prominent without adding to the story line.

this series gets better and better with every book

I love the Bailey Boys every book builds as the mystery slowly reveals. Claire Kingsley is the master of telling a great mystery wrapped in a romance with relatable characters. I love Teddy freakin’ Hamilton’s narration it is always spot on, cool and sexy AF. Unfortunately Virginia Rose is terrible, her sing song whine is just grating. She always misses the mark.
