In this final master-work of The Rational Male series, Rollo Tomassi breaks down the fundamental mechanics of Game, intersexual social skills, and the nuts and bolts psychology that makes it work. The Players Handbook is not a "how-to" book, it's a "why-it-works" book. It’s not an instruction manual—it is the missing textbook on Game and understanding intersexual dynamics. Game is an adaptive set of social skills and best practices in navigating intersexual dynamics in a modern sexual marketplace.

When you ask people about their most cherished values in life, "happiness" is always at the top of the list. But surprisingly few people claim real happiness. We seem to be completely satisfied with nothing, and indeed, there is little correlation between the circumstances of people's lives and how happy they are.

Story
Women are angry, and it isn’t hard to figure out why. We are underpaid and overworked. Too sensitive or not sensitive enough. Too dowdy or too made-up. Too big or too thin. Sluts or prudes. We are harassed, told we are asking for it, and asked if it would kill us to smile. Yes, yes it would. Contrary to the rhetoric of popular “self-help” and an entire lifetime of being told otherwise, our rage is one of the most important resources we have, our sharpest tool against both personal and political oppression.

This accessible examination of asexuality shows that the issues that aces face - confusion around sexual activity, the intersection of sexuality and identity, navigating different needs in relationships - are the same conflicts that nearly all of us will experience.

Humans are excellent liars. We don't like to think of ourselves as capable of lying; it hurts us too much to admit. So we lie to ourselves about that, too. As a clinical psychologist, I am regularly confronted with the brutal truth that we all lie. I am not talking about deliberate, bold-faced lying. No, this type of dishonesty is far harder to detect and admit. It is the kind of lying that comes from not being psychologically strong enough to be honest with ourselves about who we are.

In this installment, Beyond the Gender Binary, Alok Vaid-Menon challenges the world to see gender not in black and white, but in full color. Taking from their own experiences as a gender-nonconforming artist, they show us that gender is a malleable and creative form of expression. The only limit is your imagination.

Story
Fascinating Womanhood for the Timeless Woman holds the position that most cultures have lost the sense of ascendancy that comes from proper cultivation of femininity and masculinity in women and men, respectively. This book teaches that femininity inspires a noble masculinity in men and that it empowers and liberates women to pursue their greatest potential. It is not merely a book of personal or moral opinions. It’s based, in part, on modern science, over 50 years of teaching experience and feedback, and, most importantly, results.

In Bullying, my book dives deep into the different types of bullying, and how to help a parent in each one. When your child comes home crying from school, and you feel powerless to do anything about it. As a parent that is such an empty feeling. Bullying can be devastating to a child of any age, what we need is a tool to empower them. It is also important to understand why the bully feels the need to intimidate another individual.

Story
Psychologists often paint a picture of human mating as visceral, instinctual. But that's not the whole story. In courtship and display, sexual competition and rivalry, we are also guided by what Glenn Geher and Scott Barry Kaufman call Mating Intelligence - a range of mental abilities that have evolved to help us find the right partner. Mating Intelligence is at work in our efforts to form, maintain, and end relationships. It guides us in flirtation, foreplay, copulation, finding and choosing a mate, and many other behaviors.

Story
In this provocative new book, psychologist and social commentator Dr. Jean Twenge documents the self-focus of what she calls "Generation Me" - people born in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Dr. Twenge explores why her generation is tolerant, confident, open-minded, and ambitious but also cynical, depressed, lonely, and anxious. Dr. Twenge reveals how profoundly different today's young adults are - and makes controversial predictions about what the future holds for them and society as a whole.

Very short - very postulating.
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Might be useful for 5th graders doing a project on media language. Seriously. I'm a media scientists, and I'm not trying to be funny. This is the level of information avaliable in the se 9 minutes,
Would you ever listen to anything by Thomas Hodge again?
Not if it was 9 minutes of claims with no references.
What about Rebecca Lee’s performance did you like?
Yes, no problem with the reading.
What character would you cut from Children and the Media?
The author as sole authority. In his place I would add references and cases.
Any additional comments?
This is only 9 minutes. The author makes many arguments, some of which are sound enough, but manages to lose all credibility when he spends the latter part of the small program warning that exposure to unwholesome media stereotypes can literally turn girls into prostitutes.
