About this listen

Number-One International Best Seller

When a former student bungles a murder investigation, clinical psychologist Joseph O'Loughlin steps in to face a ruthless killer.

A mother and her teenage daughter are found murdered in a remote coastal home, one defiled by multiple stab wounds and the other posed like Sleeping Beauty waiting for her prince. Joe O'Loughlin is drawn into the investigation when a former student, trading on Joe's reputation by calling himself "the Mindhunter", jeopardizes the police inquiry by leaking details to the media and stirring up public anger.

Joe discovers a link between the farmhouse murders and a series of vicious attacks in which the victims are choked unconscious and brutally scarred. Now Joe must stop a ruthless and brash criminal who has apparently graduated to murder.

Much to his surprise, he is ably assisted by his eldest daughter, now a keen and courageous observer in her own right. Together they must track and catch a hunter who seems to anticipate every move they make.

I don't know if Joe's story will go on, but I can't imagine his story going on after this. I'm devastated. I normally listen while I'm driving but I had to stop and finish it when I got home because I could sense the ending was going to make me cry. it's an amazing story and I've been with it since the beginning. I hope there is more for Joe but I don't know what could come next.

I can't believe it's over

Can’t sing my praises for this book loudly enough! Not only was I blown away by when I found out who the killer was, the ending of this book had me in tears!!!! Love. Love. Love.
Robotham hits the nail on the head with me every time. And I don’t think I could listen to anyone else narrate other than Sean Barrett!!!

Never disappointed!!!!

Robotham is in a rare class of the very best writers of suspense, at once exciting, challenging and with a depth of character development rarely found in the genre. Somehow Sean Barrett strikes the perfect balance between sharp intellect and deep feeling in his reading of Joe, one that inevitably makes me picture Colin Firth in the role. A+ in every way.

Brilliant and heartbreaking

Joe's health continues to be a challenge. His separation from his beloved wife is painful. He's smart and wants to help the police, but is reluctant to be involved due to pressures on his personal life. And his losses add up. I love this character. I wish there was more Ruiz in this book, because I love the support the two give each other. Not to give anything away, but this is a sad story, very well written.

The good guy and the bad guy have the same voice. Made it difficult to follow.

Need different narrators

I've really liked all robothams books so far. this was a particularly excellent narration. It's a classic psychological thriller and I'm looking forward to more books in this series.
