About this listen

Detective Nick Severs of the award-winning series opener Severed Echoes returns in Cold Trace.

When the body of young Ben Harris is found after a Colorado snowstorm, Detective Nick Severs is drawn into a missing child case that went cold twenty years ago. As he and his hacker girlfriend Claire begin the investigation, every dark turn takes them deeper into the underworld of child trafficking and cybercrime, where danger is closer than they expected, stakes are higher, and where they each must decide the lines they are willing to cross in order to find justice.

It's hard to say that I "loved" D.V.'s 2nd Nick Severs book, only because the story is pretty disturbing. At the same time, child trafficking is most important no matter how we shine a light on it. The story continues to twist and turn all the way through the book. Having traveled in many areas of Colorado, I always find the geography an added bonus as I can see in my mind's eye where the characters are in the story.

Again, full disclosure, the narrator Rob Reider is a good friend of mine. I was concerned on the first book if I could separate the story from his reading. That proved to be NO problem at all. Rob's use of subtle characterizations with his voice only added to the listening experience.
