About this listen

How can a colony on Mars survive when the greatest danger on the planet is humanity itself.

All contact is lost with the first human colony on Mars during a long, intense sandstorm. Satellite imagery of the aftermath shows extensive damage to the facility, and the fifty-four colonists who called it home are presumed dead. Three years later, a new mission sets down on the planet surface to investigate what remains of the derelict site.

But, its not long before they realize the colony is not as lifeless as everyone thought. Someone is still alive -- hiding out somewhere. Yet, before they can find the elusive colonist a strange illness starts to affect the crew. Pressure now mounts on Biologist, Dr. Jann Malbec, to locate the source and find a way to fight it.

However, as she investigates she begins to suspect a dark and deadly secret lurking within the facility. A secret that threatens not just the crew but the entire population of Earth. With limited resources and time running out, she must find some answers and find them fast. Because if she doesn't, none of them will be going home.

See above I’m not writing a novel. Your word requirements hinders me from writing these reviews

Low character development and weak plot K

There seem to be some information gaps and plot holes. The story would jump, and the action sequences weren’t the best. Plus the book was pretty short.

Performance of the reader was excellent. The voices and accents were phenomenal.

Felt like a predictable combination of The Martian and The Expanse. If you’ve never heard of those, then this might be up your alley

Predictable and derivative

Feels like it borrowed a lot from The Martian, but not as well written. The presentation feels pretentious at times. the most interesting is the last 25% of the book. Not much happening until then.

Not enough original and waits too long to get interesting

I thought the story was pretty good, though I kept asking myself "who would be that stupid"? Lots of holes in the plot but still enjoyable for the morning commute. The Voice Talent sounded like an adult film star, very out of place for a Sci-Fi novel.

Decent sci-fi but with an odd choice for voice

Nothing special. but it was OK. I'm not impressed, but I did Lauren to the whole book.

It was just OK.

A fascinating idea, and very engaging. Enjoyed the brevity of it while still taking time to build suspense. Really loved the narrator. Flippin dynamic performance. Never missed a characters accent and had different ones for each. Nicol was incredible.

I enjoyed it

First bad book review I ever left, the protagonist is one of the most infuriating characters I ever read, literally made me pause the book sometimes. Plot is interesting although simplistic.

Bad protagonist

This is not really a book. It’s like someone wanted to write a TV show and this is a sketch of the first season. The astronauts are as sensible as competitors on a reality show. The medical details are ridiculously bad. There don’t seem to be any engineering details at all. Read Red Mars or The Martian instead.
