About this listen

For five novels, Clive Cussler has brought readers into the world of the Oregon, a seemingly dilapidated ship packed with sophisticated equipment and captained by the rakish, one-legged Juan Cabrillo. And now the Oregon and its crew face their biggest challenge yet.

Corsairs are pirates, and pirates come in many different varieties. There are the pirates who fought off the Barbary Coast in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the contemporary pirates who infest the waters of Africa and Asia, and the pirates...who look like something else.

When the U.S. secretary of state's plane crashes while bringing her to a summit meeting in Libya, the CIA, distrusting the Libyans, hires Juan Cabrillo to search for her, and their misgivings are well founded. The crew locates the plane, but the secretary of state has vanished. It turns out Libya's new foreign minister has other plans for the conference, plans that Cabrillo cannot let happen.

But what does it all have to do with a 200-year-old naval battle and the centuries-old Islamic scrolls that the Libyans seem so determined to find? The answers will lead him full circle into history and into another pitched battle on the sea, this time against Islamic terrorists and with the fate of nations resting on the outcome.

Fight on!

This was the first Clive Cussler book that I encountered thanks to XM Book radio. I could not wait to hear it online so I purchased it hear. Two business trips and I was done. I will be back looking for all the others.

Great read - Mr. Cussler never fails!

The Oregon Files are hands down the best action series out there. Mr. Cussler's has an ability to bring every detail to life 4k resolution like no other.

An opportunity lost

I'm going into my 14th year of being a Clive Cussler fan. Many a day came where Clive's masterful writing put me in the mist of things and unleashed my imagination. "Corsair" has a wonderful premise, and the unforgettable action that I love. But being a Muslim, I come out with the feeling that the writing has so many misconceptions and errors I'm left wondering if I need to go back to all of my favorite Cussler-alea and weed throughout a lot of what I listened to over the years. Islam does not accept injustice and cruelty. On that gauge, a lot of what is done its name, it does not accept. That distinction in "Corsair" is not clear, leaving more room for the wrong things to happen.
An old saying in Arabic states that a stallion must have a trip…maybe this was Clive's trip. Can't wait to hear your next book!

Terrible narrator

I did not realize that this was an abridged book when I purchased it. I had not heard this narrator before and he was terrible. Won't purchase another book with this narrator. Do not purchase any book with Jason Culp as the narrator. Scott Brick is the man. Clive Cussler books are usually fantastic. I have listened to all as fast as they become available. Do not like abridged books.
