About this listen

It's been five years since Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett first worked together to solve the Tri-State murders, and time has been both harsh and kind. Engaged now, they face the challenge of planning a deeply uncertain future together.

Zane is at the pinnacle of his career with one last mystery to solve while Ty is at sea in a world where he's no longer the tip of a spear. There's just one more hurdle in the way of their happy ever after: a traitor from their inner circle who threatens to burn their world to the ground. Squeezed between the Vega cartel, an unknown mole, and too many alphabet agencies to count, Ty and Zane must gather all their strength and resources to beat the longest odds they've ever faced. To make it out alive, they'll need help from every friend they've got. Even the friends who might betray their trust.

Hits you in the feelings

This installment hit all my feelings for the entire ride!! There were times when I would audibly gasp and there were times when I would say "oh no" out loud. I would definitely recommend this book to any fan of the series!!

The final showdown.

I love the finale. I wish Abigail Roux was still around. The narration was spot on.

I Hurt

Such a beautiful end with so many questions. Yes, their story is complete, and that was fulfilling. Still, I need to know. Is he really gone? What will happen to that poor soul? Where is the fearless wanderer? All these lines and the lack of answers. More!

Great Ending to the BEST Romance story ever!

If you still haven't tried the Cut & Run series you are missing out one of the best (if not THE BEST) romances! Ty and Zane are the real deal. The series is all about suspense, thrills, laughs and love, Crash & Burn had it all and was a great wrap for the series. I'll miss Ty and Zane but I'll always have rereads/relistens to visit them in the future.

The series has gone through three narrators (I recommend skipping the first narrator for books 1 & 2), Sean Crisden for books 3 - 5 and then J.F. Harding for the books 6 - 9. Both Sean and J.F. are great narrators but I have to same that J.F. is my fave of the two. He really is Ty and Zane. J.F. does an amazing job with making a mostly male cast stand out. Each character has their own voice and J.F. does more than just read the books, he truly performs them. I will listen to more of J.F.'s work. I must!

Amazing

I cannot believe how much I will miss 2 fictional individuals. This story of romance and danger is so amazing. The characters development is astounding, and you root for love th entire way through. I have read each book in this series and I can tell you that I have never seen a better love story than this. thank you for showing people that all types of love exist in this world.

Omg! What a fabulous journey!

I am not a fan of police/CIA/NIA dramas, but so many people love this series that I finally gave in and listened. I have fallen in love with these characters, the story lines and don’t believe I can ever go back to “normal” romance novels. The excitement, anticipation and emotional upheaval in this series has kept me entertained for weeks! So good! So good! ❤️❤️ I will miss Tye and Zane! They are such amazing characters! Way to go Abigail Roux!!

One of the best in the series

Possibly the best, in fact.

While the three narrators were all good, I think the last one captured the characters best, and by this book he had a real feeling for them. I especially love his slight Texan drawl for Zane.

There aren't many series that I think get better as they go, but these books are an exception to that. Each book not only revealed more plot twists and introduced more characters, but the characters who were in multiple books grew as people. They changed and became more nuanced with each book. While the romance genre is often plagued by melodrama for its own sake, I think this series controlled that better than most, and that was largely due to that character building. (Also, the adventure aspect helped distract from the dramatic moments.)

I'm sure there are detractors who think the characters are all a little close to the edge, mentally speaking, but I think anyone who has had major contact with the military, particularly combat vets, will see a lot of similarities with these characters.

There was a television-esque feel at times, since the characters were seriously injured in each book, and then recovered enough to do it again very quickly. Roux does address this, though, pointing out that Ty's hands are prematurely arthritic because of the abuse.

Bottom line: If you're interested in character driven romance/action, there's an excellent chance you'll like the series, and this is one of the best installments in the series.
