About this listen

The highly anticipated sequel to the thrilling New York Times best-selling Six of Crows.

Kaz Brekker and his crew have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn't think they'd survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they're right back to fighting for their lives. Double-crossed and badly weakened, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz's cunning and test the team's fragile loyalties. A war will be waged on the city's dark and twisting streets - a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of the Grisha world.

Is it a BROW-boat or a BRO-boat...?

I really enjoyed both this book and Six of Crows. They are replete with engaging characters and multiple plot twists. I agree with most reviewers that there were too many readers this time around, but what I found most distracting was not the different voices each reader gave the characters. Instead it was the varying pronunciations of key words and character names. Sometimes it is merely an accent on a different syllable (e.g. "PAR-em" versus "par-EM") which is tolerable, but I heard at least three variations on the name of Wylen's mother, which threw me off at first...and that is just one example. It sounds as though the readers read their chapters independently, without a common guide to pronunciations. Fewer voices would probably bump my rating to a 5.

Great Read!

I had an enjoyable experience listening to this book! The different narrators made it very immersive it had some great humor and action. I felt I couldn't stop listening multiple times through the story as I wanted to know what happened next. I am currently listening to the Greisha books also by Leigh Bardugo just can't get enough of the stories! I hope one day they make a movie about this series I feel I know who I would cast for the roles already as well.

Great!

Great ensemble cast! The story came alive with these voices. However completely agree with other reviews with regards to Wylan's voice for kaz! He sounded like an old nutter and Bebe failed to make me burst out laughing. Other than that, this was excellent!

top notch entertainment

a beautifully written, beautifully voice acted, extremely entertaining joy of a book. I love the first book, and this one was just as good, if not even better. read it, read it, read it. You won't be disappointed at all.

Great...But Not

I love this series and this writer! I love the characters and the action! I love all of the narrators EXCEPT the ones who read for Jesper and Wylan. I could practically hear the pages turning. Jesper did pretty well when he was 'in character' but when he was reading out of dialogue it was really distracting it was so stiff. And Wylan's character, oh my goodness, he pronounced each.word.so.precisely, there was NO characterization at all. I did soldier through, mainly because these were secondary characters in the book so the occasional times I gave into the urge to skip forward I didn't seem to miss much. If there is a sequel to this book (and I hope there will be) I believe I'll be forced to 'read' with my eyes instead of my ears. STILL - I do recommend the book. I thought the other narrators were perfect! Bardugo has created a rich world with diverse people and languages and the continuity between the two books is excellent.

The narrators do a fantastic job.

I'm disappointed they decided to switch the narrator for Kaz. At first it's really upsetting because it doesn't have quite the same feel as the original guy, but in the end this new narrator still does a very good job. Everyone else is the same as the first book and I love how they all portray these characters.

Just as good as the first book

If you enjoyed the first book you'll enjoy this one. The characters are all very endearing, the plot moves along quickly, and Kaz always seems to be full of fun surprises. Highly recommend this book.

An additional note there is some homosexual relations between a couple of the characters. It's not a main part of the book, but if that makes you uncomfortable you should be aware of it.

was foaming at the mouth

after reading the first book I was dying, dramatically, for the conclusion. It delivered that. I seems impossible, it was fast paced and exhilarating with a lot of heart. loved it.

Great Book

I listened to this book and the first one in this series at my daughter's request she really liked them and wanted me to read them or listen to them. As a busy mom I enjoy audible books because I can go about and do all the things I need to do and still get a good book in. This was performed very well and a great story leaves you wanting to hear more about Kaz and his crew.

AMAZING

I’m obsessed with the duo series of six of crows. This book along with the first one, is amazing, I’ve re-listened to them both more than 7 times already. The characters, the diversity, the relationships, everything about it is just amazing. I highly recommend to everyone. I’m so glad I came across the series, it’s practically ruined any other book or series for me. <3<3<3<3
