About this listen

Christian Hunt and the small band of Camp Holly survivors begin their trek west toward Hoover Dam. There, Doctor Tripp believes she and the refugees that have fortified the dam can develop a cure from Christian's blood. Zombies are an ever-present danger, opportunistic humans threaten their very lives, and scabs are evolving into apex predators, with humans on the menu.

As if the near impossibility of making it past all of these obstacles wasn't enough, Christian strives to search for his family. Did his parents or sister survive? And if they did, are any of them immune like him? His desire to find out what happened to them puts the entire mission in jeopardy. And what he discovers is that knowing is sometimes worse than not knowing.

With new friends, enemies, and dreadful discoveries, the companions will have to pull all stops and endure more pain and hardship than ever before. Christian learns to love, hate, kill, and nurture, all while trying to hold on to some semblance of humanity.

Is the road too dark and perilous for the fellowship to travel? Does Christian find his family? What new horrors will be revealed by the ever evolving Monostrovis Virus? To find answers to these questions and more, join Christian, Fish, Boomer, and the rest of the motley crew on their crusade!

An improvement over the last book

I absolutely loved the first book. To this day it is the only version of a "smart zombie" that I think makes the story better. The second book didn't catch my ear as much as the first, tho. This book definitly improved on that. Great story, perfect narration. I can't wait for the next book.

Not bad

Better than the previous. I like all the well thought out characters and the twist on your typical zombie mixed with EOTWAWKI. The only negative is that Christian is such a slow thinker. Everyone else can see the plot twist coming a mile away but he can’t? I get it at the beginning of the event that he has some things to learn. But why is he always the last to figure obvious things out? Plus that talkative teen would not have lived that long without everyone going off on her about her noise from the beginning. I mean really. Fish would have taped her mouth closed months ago.

I’m Torn On This One

There is so much here to like, great narration, engaging action sequences, likable and well drawn characters, and some great twists that make this a unique zombie story.

My main criticism is that this is another drawn out series that could have been condensed. However, since everything else worked to create an interesting world, I would recommend this to any zombie aficionado. It was true escapism that I enjoyed.

Only other negative is the stupid choices the main character continues to make. He puts those around him in too much jeopardy. Please show more character growth in future installments.

I am on the "Hunt" for books 4 & 5!

This book is as good as the TV series "The Walking Dead". Character driven with tons of action. I really enjoyed this installment for the back story on some key character. Joshua Story set a nice pace and tempo and had me up late listening way too much. I do find myself extremely worried about our hero Christian! Get back to the laptop JD! I have to know what's happening!!
